As the heading suggests, i wish to know if it's possible, even if stupendously expensive to buy a brand Newie from Honda main dealer?? seeing as the bike is only (>_<) 15 years old.

I ask because I'm interested, they must have some fresh crates hidden away somewhere with some sparkly sexy new units fresh of mileage and abuse

I doubt any dealer has a 15 year old model.

I'll bet some dealer still has a brand new 6th gen on the floor. I don't know about an engine. It's hard enough to get valves and gaskets and such.

Well, the bare crankcase is $450, the cylinder heads are $530 each, the crank and pistons are another $500, then you start adding bits and pieces...you'd be looking at $4000 before it was all done, if one was still sitting around in a crate.

What I meant to say was that he could find an older "brand new" 6th Gen. Easier than a new 5th Gen engine. Apples and oranges I know but I doubt that Honda keeps a stock of engines for out-of-warranty bikes. Manufactures keep the price of replacement engines very high to discourage this sort of thing, They want to sell whole bikes. That's their bread and butter.

Not sure why the OP want to go that route.....Does not seem to be economical
With the money for a brand new motor might as well get another bike

thanks for the replies, yeah Ive been looking and to no avail, i also contacted a guy who rebuilds and that was not cheap either, i was only asking as a last resort to getting it re-built, i know you could argue that the engine is probably one of the most reliable engines in history regardless of an individuals need to have it just so or like new, but i always do this kind of research in case it's a loophole and fairly cheap to acquire, as i understand that the engine would be up to or over $4000 complete which is pretty insane if it was broken down into new parts.

Anybody from the UK know if there is a good engine builder around? i found super bike surgeon in the UK, who uses OEM or better parts, and I'm waiting on a price back from them, although i cant afford it, like i say I'm just putting the feelers out.

Obviously the most logical solution is to buy a 2nd hand unit with 12-25k on the clock, however unless there is 100% proof of the mileage and docs it's only speculation on the motors actual mileage.. i find these engines for around £300-350 delivered with ancillaries

I think this would be your best solution, not sure about UK but in Ca there are used engine can be pick up as low as $500.00
Good luck and hope some of the UK members can help.
