Brembo Radial clutch upgrade with pics

I just installed a Brembo radial clutch master cylinder off of a 2009 Ducati 1100 monster. The ratio has been improved slightly with the Brembo have a 1mm smaller bore 15mm vs 16, for less effort and more feel, with a wider friction zone. I already had 100 pound Barnett clutch springs, so the lessened effort is a god send. As an added bonus, the previous owner had 6 position adjustable levers already installed, which can adjust the friction zone from at the bar to about 1.5 inches off of the bar. So all in all I would say that this is a great modification for those seeking less clutch effort and greater clutch lever feel.

How much of a difference would you say that made in the width of your friction zone? My clutch seems to have that light switch problem other people have. Stock is 1/4in and I'm thinking about trying a 12mm one I found off a ducati.

Anyone know what ratio the brake master is on a 5th gen? I want to improve the brakes on it, but keep the linked brakes.

 

Are you saying that the stock friction zone is 1/4 inch or the stock master? 1/4 inch makes sense for the friction zone. Mine felt even shorter than that. This helped a lot, but I don't think that I could put an exact number on the friction zone length for you, I can just tell you, that it's much better now. I think a 12mm master would be way too small, but it is worth a try. Go for it and let us know.

Sorry, I meant the stock clutch master piston is 1/2inch, so about 12.7mm

 

Damn you're right. I need to stop believing everything I read on the internet.... Lol
Now I should probably look up what size the 2009 Ducati 1100 monster is.

From what I've been able to gather (reading on the internet!) a radial master acts like a much smaller diameter regular clutch, to the point where most people say a 19mm radial is very comparable to a 14mm regular. Maybe I need to look into the one like yours instead if it's really 15mm!

The 12mm one I've been looking at is a regard style clutch, off of early 2000s models. They're remote reservoir brembo's with gold bodies and silver levers. Any other color lever was 13mm.

It is a 15/18, which is so weird, that I could go up from a 12.7 master cylinder to a 15mm master and have a lighter pull. Really Really weird, but I guess that is the benefit of radial action...
