Several "members" in your vicinity who can be of assistance.

More details on the bike like the year, your asking price, service records, title info ect. Will make for a quicker sale.

The VFR can be made less "sporty" with the addition of a different set of bars and a better seat.

Lots of old duffers here ride the VFRs One dude who goes by the name of Randy does 3,000 mile days in the rain and is 106 years old..;)

:asshole: I'M NOT 106. At least not for a couple years.

I also suggest that you post this specimin in the classifieds on this site. But like said by my estemed fellow FVR sluts, pix would do great justice. I should be riding thorugh your area while sleeping in about a month or so.

BTW SDVFR1. I was 47 the first time I retired and have retired yet again one more time since. Hoping to return to work. So like BB said, there are lots of us old fuggers who still ride these machines. I find mine quite comfortable as is but there are thinkgs you can do, like heli bars, that make them even more comfortable. I have heli bars but have yet to pout them on. But you have been around long enought to make up your own mind. Or has your wife made that up for you!:rofl::biggrin1:

You may want to give it some more time and maybe take a long ride, possibly up to Palomar and Borrego Springs areas and see how it feels. I really think you'll appreciate the sportiness factor on roads like these. I'm 48 too, or will be later this month and I found my 6 Gen (2009) to be both comfy and sporty but I have also changed the ergos a little with Heli-bars and a Sargent seat, mostly to improve my long distance comfort factor. Although I've never ridden an ST I think they are more tailored to touring than "sporting" but I cannot say that from first hand experience. I'm no knee dragger, but I am definitely not timid in the canyons when I want to have fun either, but if you're more into long distance/touring the ST may be better for you, at least in stock trim. Personally I like the "sportiness" I get from my 6 Gen but I mainly use it for commuting and some touring, if/when I really am just out to play, I take my 5 Gen. I get all of the sportiness I could ask for and not be tortured if I'm out for a long time.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. If you decide to sell it, definitely post up the 'for sale' in the classified section of the forum. Cheers

OK I snapped some pics see if I can figure out how to post them. Rode it to work today, its 26 miles each way. I think I could have made in about 3 1/2 minutes if I focused. This is a weapons grade bike and is definitely in the wrong hands. I think its mad at me because I wont go over 90.

When you post a reply, look directly above where you are typing and scroll across the icons. You will see there quick-click icons to inset images, videos, etc.

Perhaps you should give it more of a chance before changing bikes, nothing wrong with the ST but they are a bit heavier.

Haven't ever heard of VFRs being described as weapons grade before but one of the great things about the VFR is it's ability to be falling of a log easy to ride and suiting a wide range of styles ranging from fast scratching with Superbikes through twisties to gentle long distance rides with Tourers. Try enjoying riding it in a way that suits you

I'll be 70 this fall, this is my second V4, and I still own my original '83 (in hibernation in NY). Give yourself and your bike a chance, like they say, a few mods and if becomes more touring and less sporty without loosing it's character, it will grow on you. Unless you are planning a lot of long trips, it is hard to beat the VFR for all around fun. You can drive it any way you want and it will be happy, don't have to get into the VTEC range unless you are feeling more confident.

Oh I found the Vtec on the way home. I love the bike, its not the bike it all. Its my inability to ride a bike like this with any sanity. I been riding Harleys for the past 5 years or so because they are the only bike that is SLOW enough so as not to get me in trouble.

Weapons grade is exactly that, yes there are faster, better handling bikes, but this bike is a performance bike that has some touring capability. I am used to bigger bikes, if the ST is anything like this, it will be a better fit.

I was kind of on the fence and my girlfriend kept asking me if I was gonna go check it out. So we did. When I got there, the bike looked like new. There was no way I was leaving it there. It literally doesnt have a mark on it. Just one of those "cant say no" deals. I mean for the money its an amazing bike.

There werent any records, the only thing he had done was oil. It was still very clear and full, I think I will swap it though just because he couldnt recall the last time he had done it. It only has 4950 miles but I will ride it some. He bought it new, garage kept. Tires are good, plate is current, clean clear title. I have the bracket and bolts that were removed to accomodate the hard bags. It is IMMACULATE! I am not someone who will waste your time this is probably as close to new as you can get IMO, $5k I have watched them for probably the past two years, in our area, they ask 5-5500 and most have a lot more miles so I think 5 will be a fair deal.

    ORGASMIC!
And it is a white bich too! The chain doesn't even look dirty. But looks like original tires on that puppy. If you keep, I would get rid of those. If you buy, I would get rid of those. Personally I think your price is in the market.

Maybe I could convince Randy to fly down and ride it back for me. Sounds like a sweet deal. Then I'd have a 4th, 5th and 6th gen.

Or seeing as I am going to be down there, I could leave mine behind and bring this back for myself. I would have to drop it a few times though.

Too sporty ?? Or too uncomfortable for you ??

That bike is about a #4 on the sportyness scale compared what's out there. Wpuldn't know unless you've ridden. It's just too heavy to be really sporty, but alot more so than a ST.
