Just bought a 2008 Honda Interceptor and looking to to get handlebar risers and possibly a taller windshield. I've never gotten either of these before and don't know which are better than others.
    Any suggestions?

Firstly may I say Hi and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:!

    Congratulations on your new bike.

When you get a chance please swing by the "introductions" sub-forum (scroll down the home page) and say Hi to the others on here!

Please be warned it probably won't be long before people start raggin on you until you get around to posting up at least one photo of your new VFR. (To post pictures click reply and then use the "insert Image" icon and follow the prompts. Its the icon located 2 to the right of the envelope symbol.)

    :focus:

As for risers - I fitted Helibars and have never regretted it.

Helibars are not cheap, but if you are aiming to reduce stress on your wrists, they bring the bars up and back towards you, and offer a noticeably better riding position than simple risers like the much cheaper Genmar riser option. If you are tight on budget you may want to try the cheaper option first, and if it does not work out, then you can still sell them on and put the funds towards a set of Helibars. Although the change in position may not sound much, the affect on comfort really is night and day compared with the stock bars, and is pretty much the max you can do without getting into the hassle of extending cables/hoses etc.

As for taller windshields - I suggest you try the search facility on here (which once you get the search terms right works pretty well). Certainly a while back someone produced an illustrated comparison of the main options out there. Fingers crossed Scubalong, or one of the other regulars will pop by with a link.

Anyway you will find several alternatives available for your VFR from aftermarket suppliers. You may want to note that some are officially marked as not suitable for road use - probably because the manufacturer has not paid out to have them tested against the relevant national rules rather than they are unsafe. Alternatively you may want to note that Honda offered an OEM specification "touring screen" option for your bike - which you should be able to source via a Honda dealer or specialists like David Silver Spares.

    Hope that helps

I need heli bars....had 'em on my '98 vfr 6-7 years ago...they were great...those and the tallest screen I can find (givi?) with a MRA vario hinged foil mount on the top makes for exceptional windblock....drive 85mph cross country no prob....come to think of it; in addition to selling my ZG Dbl Bubble screen ...I'll be selling my genmar risers...after,.. I get my convertibars or helis................need to sell my complete monolock GIVI bag set too......

I thought this thread was about someone having a new bike, but I didn't see any bike.

    Lies I say.
