Cozye map on pc3... What octane?

Just installed on my 03 and wow it's a different bike. So much better in terms of throttle smoothness.

But what octane gas do I use? (North America)
And do I vary it based on altitude?

O2 sensors have been removed.

87 octain man you guy get sh*t fue, in theukwehave 95 octain as standard our highest available on the street is 99.

 

You are comparing Apples and oranges buddy.

Different ratings will give identical fuels different numbers. For example RON vs MON...

Didn't mean to offend you guys from our sister nation of big 8l muscle cars pushing 500 horses compared to our 3.0l v6 producing 650bhp and still more economical than your so called eco cars :beguiled: only messing I do love America, well the places I've visited.

 

I run 97 octane but that's purely due to the crap (ethanol) they add to the lower grade gas. The higher the octane the less ethanol added

You know E85 has a RON of about 110 right? And also that the octane number has absolutely nothing to do with quality of the fuel. You would be much better off just looking for a gasoline that is labeled ethanol free, than what ever fuel blend that they used to bump it up to 97.

+1 for the ethanol free as being more important than octane.
Here our lowest fuel is 91 RON, available both with & without ethanol.
We also have 95 & 98 both etanol free.
Astralian VFR models have a minimun octane requirement of 91, as stated in the owners manual.
Is the ignition map different to the US model? Who knows, maybe its just a politically correct manual.
I normally use 98, but when I've had to use 91 or 95, I can't say I could feel much difference.

 

Maybe because it's so hot in Australia the extra heat adds more of a risk for predetonation so the extra octane is just an added safety measure.
