So after sitting over the winter my fuel pump decided not to work. Rather than buying a new one I converted to gravity feed but can't get it to run right. Just curious if there's something I'm doing wrong. Ran the line from the tank along the frame to the carbs with a fuel filter. I'm going to be selling the bike soon so hate to dump a lot of money into it.

You can get a new pump for about $50 on ebay and from what I have worked out these need a full tank of fuel if you run without a pump because the carbs are way up high above the fuel in half of the tank so gravity doesn't feed the carbs unless the fuel is higher

Is that's for a stock pump or aftermarket? I've looked all over and can't seem to find one. Found 1 for an 85 for $130 shipped

+1 on what Norm said--they don't run well on gravity feed at all.

The pumps I have looked at on ebay are Chinese (what isn't these days) I just go to ebay and put in VFR fuel pumps and it should come up The ones I have seen are about $50 AU so US should be less

You might want to check/test the fp relay as per the service manual. I'd next check the fp contact points (if the relay checks out OK).

Yep, saw several Chinese pumps on eb*y for $50 just yesterday.
