I get both the digital version and the paper version of Motorcyclist magazine. The digital one was in my inbox this morning.

The big road test story is the new 2014 model, and....they panned it. Too little, far too late, they said. I know a couple of those guys, so I tend to take them at their word.

Didn't know white was one of the colors available. I've only seen a red one @ my dealer locally.

Oh...and there's also a foto/story of a real handsome bastard on page 30 with his 85 VF500F as well for the "Me & My Bike" section. Sadly, though, they cut my copy and left out the part where I said after I bought my 84 version I "got yet more unobtanium carb parts from the hoarders/members at VFRDiscussion.com and VFRWorld.com". Tried to give you guys some credit. Oh well.

Autograph line forms to the left, please. Cash only.

I hate bastards that hog the spot light.
As you already may know, the only colors available are white and red on both, the standard and deluxe models. Salesman at my local dealer said that it took them a few months to get one bike, the only one they got is a standard red and no idea if/when they'll get a white one or what model.

Why did my dealer BS meter just spike?

Any mag online or otherwise has three things that it must satisfy. As a medium, it must support itself. As a specialized medium it will have an editorial agenda. As a medium it will bullshit just like anyone anywhere as long as they/it can get away with it.

    Exemplar: HOG mag.

So black must be for other than the US market. Which is fine, white looks the best on the new model IMO. With some simple vinyl graphics you easily replicate a retro VFR paint scheme. Or even duplicate the CBR1000 Limited Edition colors.

Translation: "Hell, we probably won't sell the one we have, much less another one in another color."

    PS There was a spotlight?

Wgregt....nice ride.....how'd they pick your Honda for the story? Do you know Barry Burke? Right about the time I bought my first street bike in 84 (Interceptor) is when I met Barry and he was racing a 750 Gpz and then was mentored by Keith Code racing a FZR1000 and won the formula USA championship..wild times fer sure.
Always loved the full fairing 500's.
I had a Velasco pipe on my 750...sure wish I could hear it again.
    Anyways....ride safe

that "rare aftermarket fairing" was on my 86 500 as well.

Sold the bike to a friend who sold it to some kid dumped the bike and wrecked the fairing.

Makes me sick. Made me even more sick when OP said it was rare :p lol. oh well NOT MY PROBLEM ANYMORE.

    Congrats on the spotlight :):glee:

Well, I know a few of the guys @ Motorcyclist mag, (not Barry Burke) but that had nothing to do with getting picked. I just wrote 500 words, took a foto, and sent it in. Good timing, as they held it for a few months, waiting to run it with the 2014 VFR road test they were doing. They did do some "editing" to the copy though, even though I was under the word count. They took out quite a bit of the humor in the story (mostly wise-cracks about my Army buddy mentioned in the story) and really put words in my mouth, so to speak. Like where I moved "back" to CA? Nope. Never lived here before. "Rare" full fairing? Nope. I didn't say that either. Oh well, what you gonna do, right?

Would have been funny/nice if they had left in the line about me getting OEM carb parts from the "members/hoarders on VFRD and VFRW" for the '84.

See my post about the "rare" line. Didn't say it. There are a few of them still out there, and you can even get them made to order new today from Spec II.

I liked the 86 models, but too much red for me. Red seat AND forks?

Just saw your post... that is funny that they changed words like that. Poor editing!

I am impressed Spec II still makes them!!! Their site looks pretty out-dated haha.

The red kinda grew on me. That fairing really helps the bike look good :)

"Dry weight " no fluids of any kind. Less battery as well. Probably still optimistic.
