I notice you deliberately didn't mention the Tuono . . . nor do you wonder whether the Tiger has significant suspension upgrades.

Anyway, IF you were literate - which is in serious question - you might have noticed that I didn't say I COULDN'T keep up. Only that I have to work harder than I do when I ride the OTHER motorcycles that have much more usable power on the road without such close attention to the RPMs. The VTEC 800 is not a powerhouse. Sorry if that FACT rings your bell.

You are a bit of a jerk and make ASSumptions. Not really being snarky. Just being truthful. Chump.

    ;)

Yup, you are the guy I was thinking of when I mentioned "some guys" have gotten more power out of it . . .

It also COMPLETELY depends on which model/year Tiger you're talking about as well. You're assuming the recent 800 Tiger Adventure I take it from your remarks. Perhaps you're not real acquainted with the Triumph model lineup, but there are several Tiger's that'll eat a close to stock VFR for breakfast, after beating it up and stealing it's lunch money... Assuming near equal rider skill. I'm just sayin.

Didn't realize you were 'actually' claiming that: a VFR isn't as fast as bikes that are faster.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt and assumed you weren't using an utterly superfluous claim to support a hollow argument. My bad.

I haven't logged on here for a while. Unfortunately about 5 weeks ago, I got hit with a medical problem (neuropathy of the feet), making it rather painful to drive much less ride a motorcycle. Instead of the white VFR800, I had to buy a fancy couch so I could sit my ass down with my feet in a bucket of hot water. Went all in with the other furniture too ... ah well, maybe a new bike in the Spring. I am just under 40, not diabetic, thin and healthy, so the KP doc is perplexed and unhelpful. I've already got some other old bike and the weather's turned cold, so probably best I replaced my junk futon and free dining set anyway, even though that's not nearly as exciting as a new ride, heh.

Strange, on my bike it's about 4600 and I've got stock gearing, 5k for me is about 80mph

Unsure why on the VFR but Yamaha made first taller on their 2nd R1 due to gearbox problems thereby transferring the stress of take off to the clutch, possibly explains why all the Superbikes do 100mph in first.

I don't actually mind the Diavals looks but after talking to an owner who went from a VFR to a Diavel he described its handling as very fidgety therefore tiring on our ripply back country roads.

We attributed this was partly due to its rediculusly wide rear tire which would also limit its appeal as a very competent all rounder road bike the VFR excels at.

Oh, not even close. The Diavel is lighter and easier to ride than the 6th gen VFR all day. It has a far more neutral riding position. Additionally, the suspension is adjustable, so sounds like your friend doesn't have his dialed in. The rear tire is wide, but you'd be surprised how quickly you forget that once you start riding it...

I'll just put it like this, it is at least as comfortable and often more so, rides as well if not better, is lighter and has gobs more power.

I still love my VFR, but don't get it sideways about the Diavel. Go ride one before you take their word for it...

Looks like we have an intruder who loves ragging on VFRs at every chance he gets. We speak and own VFRs here sir...so go tug one off on your Diavel & Tiger elsewhere. :puke: If you listen closely, I think the Ducati fanboys are calling you.

No, that's exactly what I was saying. The VFR is underpowered. Thanks for finally getting it.

Easy there Ghost Rider, the pattern is full - of bull shizit in your case.

I'm still a VFR rider of yore, and may be one day again. I still love the bike, remember it fondly and enjoy the camaraderie of this site.

Now, the fact that I've currently got a Triumph and Ducati does not change that. However, I will also not sit by and allow either of my steeds to be slandered by those uneducated. I would likely speak up for another bike as well, if I knew for sure of the point of it.

That doesn't make me an intruder, and I don't love ragging on VFR's. I only speak the truth, whether you can accept it or not is another issue.

Well, I am calling the ball(s), but the airboss told me that you don't have any. Damn I kill me. HAHA. This is a VFR website, and it will be biased towards them somewhat of course, just like you are probably all rubbin' weinies over at your Ducati & Triump forum. Until you find your place over there, you are just being a killjoy here. Spread the love, not the hate. Think about it slappy. By the way, Diavel's are nothing by re-badged HD sportsters. Just trying to wad your panties again.

Just because we love the VFR doesn't mean we have to blind ourselves to its shortcomings.

Yes, yes. Ducatis are super comfy for the local Starbucks run. There's a reason their engineers designed the clutch to sound like a coffee grinder. Haven't seen many a Diavel covering large swaths of highway in all out tour mode though.

On a reasent long trip, one of my mates took his Diavel on a 1500km ride.
He's wife took all his gear in the car while she followed us.
Sad really. I was two up with gear and food for three days worth of riding, staying in a farm stay.
He was on his own carrying a wallet and phone, still struggled to keep up on the tight windy stuff, his pipes kept grinding on the right turns.
    But shit it sounded good.

I have to say that I'm tired of reading this "my bikes better and yours sucks" crap. Starting to feel like a CBR forum around here for &^&^% sake.

Please, for the love of all things two wheeled, holster your weapons and return to our regularly scheduled program, already in progress. :hss:

Soooo, given that 2007 was the 25th anniversary, do you think I'll have to wait until 2017 for a RWB of the new bike?
