Sidi boots are they great quality

I am planning to get new boots in say the next month or so. have considered the Sidi brand, maybe their All road goretex or the Amada. They are not cheap, and that is okay if the quality is worth the price. So tell me thoughts on Sidi boots please for street use and just riding around town to carving twisties and multi day rides. Thanks.

 

Yes, Sidi boots are very good quality. They are generally considered to be one of the top brands of sport and dirt boots. That's part of the reason for the high price. They are also repairable, depending on the model (many parts can be replaced on the boot if it fails). If you can afford it, you won't be sorry.

 

there is a saying, buy a 20 dollar pair of shoes and throw them away after a year, buy a pair of 200 dollar shoes and they will last you a lifte time. I have a two pairs of Bates Fast Lane boots (not doing shameless plugs mind you.) My first set was bought in 1991 and I still wear them to work when rain threatens, I liked them so much for street riding, I bought a second pair. I have resoled these boots and have had zippers replaced and the odd shifter pad replaced a few times in the 100,000 miles of abuse they have taken. Race boots, Apline Stars, Prexport :rip: boots and gloves get kicked to chit sometimes/most times.

I am gona be going to Tuscany in the near future and want to look at a pair of Sidi boots in Italy, I have conquered the gear frontier but would like another pair of boots possibly.

 

I have used many but sidi cycling shoes and sidi boots are better than most. Like ridevfr said, you get what you paid for. IMHO, you can't go wrong with sidi and depending on the model the sell replacement parts.

I've been using the same pair of Sidi boots for over ten years and they are still going strong. Love them...

 

Had mine for over 4 yrs. Now. Great boots. So over 60,000 milels . Worth the money I paid.

I have had a couple pairs of the "cheaper" boots (they weren't really that cheap either) but the next ones will be different, maybe Sidi. Joe Rocket and my present Alpinstars are comfortable. I am sure they offer plenty of protection. But you cannot re-sole these boots. End result, you are throwing out otherwise perfectly good and comfortable boots way before most of the boot has worn out, just because you cannot get a shoemaker to replace the sole. Just because it costs more up front, does not mean it is not cheaper in the long run. But don't pick you boot just because it is expensive. Look over the boot well and keep in mind you may have to make repairs in the future.

 

Get 'em in black and you could channel your inner Waffen SS.

 

All three pair of mine are black. The Wellingtons, the Tankers and the Troupers.

I think that since you never served, your color choice would be more a Brownie hue than black.

I have a pair of the Aerostich Combat Touring Boots, which are made by Sidi. They're great boots. I finally wore a pair out after many years and I bought another pair to replace them. So there's another thumbs-up.

I had tried on a few pairs of Sidi's a while back. My only issue with them is that I have wide fee (4E), and the Sidi's just didn't fit me well, so I had to shop elsewhere.

I have a pair of Sidis, as well. Had for at least 5 to 6 years still great. I would buy another pair without hesitation.

 

Thanks guys. I am going to try to get to a shop in a couple weeks an try them on to see what fits best.....hopefully leave with a good pair of Sidi's or at least a comparable quality boot. My old red wings are done.

 

One method is to never take them off. I learned this from a harleydood.

 

I've had the same set of Sidi mountain bike shoes, beat to hell, for 7 years. Road shoes for 5 and my motorcycle boots for 5 yrs. Can't beat em and they're definitely worth the extra bucks in quality and comfort. I do have a different set of tall gauntlet all leather boots that look like engineer boots. Use them mostly for trips where I know there will be a lot of off bike walking. The one bad thing about Sidis is that they're alittle had to spend time in walking

 

I don't know what they're like across the pond but standard wisdom over here is that Sidi make great boots but they come up small and you may need to go up at least one if not two sizes above what you normally wear. I had a pair of Black Rain Evo for years, very good boots indeed.

 

I purchased a pair of Sidi's, I believe they're called the Cobras, about 3-4 months ago and I love them. My previous pair were Sedici's which began to fall apart after just a short while.
Luckily the Sedici's come with a lifetime warranty so I returned them and traded up to the Sidi's. They're as comfortable as I can imagine any boot of this type would be and make me feel very protected.
My primary use is commuting but I also do the twisties as well as longer day rides and these boots seem to be worth their weight in gold. I would imagine the Goretex would be a great solution for the heavier rain.
