I wonder if I offered to buy all 200, Honda would give me a discount. Keep in mind that the one Stoner rode is a used bike and they depreciate like crazy.

Stoner riding the bike would make it used. SOW riding the bike would void the warrantee..

I would like to see both the Yamaha R1M and the Honda 213V-S ridden by the same top level rider on the same track and see a comparison. The Yamaha may be a bit heavier, but my uneducated guess is that the $21K Yammers would more than hold its own against the $184K +++ Honda.

I think everyone is missing the point. $21k Yamahas & other liter class bikes are meant to be purchased/ ridden by us mortals. $184k Hondas are meant to be parked & looked at by people with way too much money.

    "And it just ain't right!"

I wonder what if, as in like the NR to 4th gen vfr, if there will be any trickle downs towards our current VFR. Maybe? .... I'm not holding my breath, but wouldn't it be nice.

So after reading the article you posted (thanks again) I think the Yamaha would be smoked pretty quickly. that is one bad ass bike regardless of the price. What do you think of it now?

I think it may be a good bike, but not $184K good. Especially with it being regulated to ho hum power. In regards to the R1M being smoked, maybe, maybe. However, an additional $10-$20K into the Yammers with top of the line suspension, engine, etc and you would have a WSB bike, or damned near and still have $144K left over.

That to me is what disappoints me about this bike. I understand it's a go go fast goody and even as stated earlier, it may in actuality be more powerful than corporately stated, as it appears the Suzuki GSX-S1000F is. The first report on it that was tested on Isle Of Mann the reviewer stated that it was performing well above it's stated horsepower and it even quoted a Suzuki employee that it was indeed higher powered.

However, ALL of this is overshadowed by the fact that Honda seems to be focused elsewhere and isn't really innovating. OK, sure the 213 is a Halo bike and I get that, but in the meantime, the CBR is so long in the tooth it has to get dentures. I don't understand why Honda isn't catering to the very people that are actually keeping the company alive. The CBR is a great bike, it handles very well, especially considering the fact that it is actually a grandfather by today's standards. But, instead of having the back of the folks keeping them in business, at least in regards to their sportbikes, they go and cater to the very very few uber rich that can afford to spend money like this on a whim.

True, Honda is taking a global view and they do have some great products, but, there are many areas where they are so risk adverse that it is almost laughable. Case in point, the 8th gen VFR. A true opportunity there and they just updated an existing platform, instead of innovating the way they used to. Another example is this: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/h...otorcyclist-magazine-adv-bikes?src=SOC&dom=fb Honda Introduces 2016 VFR1200X Adventure Bike | FIRST LOOK

To get a feel for the boringness of this, simply look at some quotes from the article:

    As well as
It seems even Motorcyclist can't refrain from being sarcastic at some things that Honda is doing. As with Honda cars being a "me too" copier of cars, such as their poor attempt at copying the Porsche Panamera with their pathetic looking Honda Crosstour, Honda simply decided to copy, rather then innovate. Then, when they do, it seems that they have to go and make it unaffordable to all but the top 1%.

Maybe I just don't understand business, but I think Honda is just slightly above Suzuki in the bike world. The ironic thing about that though, is I feel that the Suzi GSX-S1000F is what Honda should have done, but with a V-4. Hell, they already have a V-4 1200, it's not like they actually had to create something new. I guess even Suzuki beat them on that one.

Although I agree with Lint on many points, I think for us 'Mericans, we get such a neutered version the price tag is way out of line! However, in other countries, they are getting as close to a MotoGP bike as one could get that can be ridden on the street, power and handling, so for them the price tag may seem to be a bargain, at least that's the way I see it.

As far as Honda's sales and marketing practices, I can't say but I have read that the U.S. market is not heir biggest market so maybe that's why they don't cater to "us". Personally I think they hold their cards close and will probably spring something onto the market that will give us hope again. At least that's what I am hoping for.

The price issue is something else that I don't understand about Honda. They price their products like they are premium, or nearly so, but they just aren't. Maybe they need to stop studying Harley and start looking at someone new.
