I have a 1994 VFR750. In the middle of moving all my belongings into storage, I realized that I have packed away my keys to the bike (D'oh). Think unmarked box packed into a storage space the size of a 2 car garage. To reduce the cost of having a new key made, I decided to remove the helmet/seat lock. Drilled the heads off the break-off bolts and removed the remains but still cannot get the lock free. I'm guessing this is because the cable to the seat lock is still attached and there is no slack to see what is happening. Does anyone know the trick to getting the lock free?

    Thanks for any help.

You need to hook onto the wire that releases the seat and pull.

How do you get to the wire? From one drawing it looked like maybe I could get to it just above the lock, under the side body panel? From the back side I don't see where I would hook it.

Can you use the coat hanger and slide under the seat?

Usually on Hondas the key code is stamped on the back of the helmet lock and under the ignition switch. Typically one letter and one 2-digit number, D-51 for example.
