I like a lot of the bikes. I traded one for my VFR and have no regrets, though. I guess you could say I got in the club and quickly realized I didn't belong... That, to me, is their real problem...the whole lifestyle thing. The bikes are what they are, and like people always say, you either get it or you don't. But afaic, an arrogant HD clown is no different than an arrogant sportbike clown. It's funny reading the posts...some people don't realize they are exactly like the people they "hate". Lol

No, seriously. You could take quotes from here or a general sportbike group, quotes from an HD group, blank out a few key words, and you would not be able to tell which group they came from. I know...it's the same for sports, religion, politics, whatever...just funny when people can't see they are DEAD like their sworn enemies.

Okay, the HD quotes might have a "and no GD SOB is ever gonna make me wear a helmet" that would have to be overlooked....but you see what I'm saying.

I got this little bastard liberal that works for me. He hates capitalism, wants a planned economy. I told him I could see the benefits but if they decide on building only one bike, it better damn well be a VFR, not a hog.

Send his liberal ass down to SF. I think we then should set some charges and float all those Commies all out to sea!

One day the chicken & horse were playing, when the horse fell into a bog and began to sink.

Scared for his life, the horse whinnied for the chicken to go get the farmer for help! Off the chicken ran, back to the farm.

Arriving at the farm, the chicken searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for the farmer had gone to town with the only tractor.

Running around, the chicken spied the farmer's new Harley. Finding the keys in the ignition, the chicken sped off with a length of rope, hoping there was still time to save the horse's life.

Back at the bog, the horse was surprised but happy to see the chicken arrive on the shiny Harley, and he managed to get hold of the loop of rope the chicken tossed to him.

After tying the other end to the rear bumper of the farmer's motorcycle, the chicken then drove slowly forward and, with the aid of the powerful bike, rescued the horse!

Happy and proud, the chicken rode the Harley back to the farmhouse, and the farmer was none the wiser when he returned.

The friendship between the two animals was cemented: best buddies, best pals.

A few weeks later, the chicken fell into a mud pit, and as the chicken began to sink, the horse heard the cry, 'Save me!'

The horse thought a moment, walked over, and straddled the large puddle.

Looking underneath, he told the chicken to grab his hangy-down thing and he would then lift the chicken out of the pit.

The chicken got a good grip, and the horse pulled up and out, saving the chicken's life.

    The moral of the story?

'When you're hung like a horse, you don't need a Harley to pick up chicks'

Hate the company? No. Why should I? They're very successful and they do what they do well.
Hating their riders? Nah, that's pretty dumb and judgmental.
Finding a good portion of said riders to be annoying toolbags that only care about looking cool and being loud as hell? You've got me there.

    Hi Kids!
Long time no see! In this crazy world of constant change it was heartwarming to visit here to recapture "the old days" of when I had my VFR and roamed around here often. It is gratifying to see that this thread is still percolating along. So just to refresh things:

    a) I still hate the insanely loud HD's that pollute the lovely places I visit
    b) I still laugh at the costumes so many HD riders wear that clearly show that they are independent, non-conformists that celebrate their rugged individuality by looking EXACTLY like every other HD rider
    c) I still am able to enjoy my Kawasaki ZX-10r and Triumph Daytona 675 despite the fact that I never act like an 18-year old Ricky Racer...they continue to thrill me even when cornering at 15 mph or tooling around at 30 mph.

But I DO miss my VFR and look long and lovingly whenever I see one on the street. (But I don't miss it's portly manners.)
And it is great to see so many familiar names here! Thanks for letting me stop in occasionally!

Some how "Been amazed and confused for so long..." just does not sound as good. A few weeks back I was in Tennessee and North Carolina and had a bunch wave first. And several were scraping hard parts riding the Dragon. Whats the world coming to?

Road behind a line of 30 of them on hwy9- twisty section. Was with a buddy (gixxer) and we weren't sure if it was worth it to pass a few at a time. Thankfully they all pull off at a tavern.

Few years back (7) my friend Chris worked with the president of the group booze fighters at Universal Studios, rode his FXR with them up threw Sierra Hwy, was told that I had to be last and no passing.
There was probably 40+ and these guys hauled ass big time, all good riders.. it was awesome being on the tail end of the snake....we went to the old drag strip on the top of Hwy 14 to watch motocross.

So this isn't just a thing I've observed in Ohio? Explains a lot.

A few marbles here and there, but all is not lost. ;)

    Latest "collection": Hampton Hawes..

A lot of great stuff around by interlibrary loans. Most use www.worldcat.com. The local libraries have the operative version. The home version is a great reference.

Probably some HD stuff there too...LOL
