Current Exhaust Options for 6th Gen in the Year 2015?

    What ^ he said, TYGA seems as though is moving forward. IMO if one was going to go to the trouble for an exhaust up grade, might s well go full monty ;) I would have had they been available. I'm still looking for that elusive rocking horse poo.

    I have the poo and it is great, but brand new poo, would be much better than 20 year old poo.

    Awe yes, fresh poo may be better than old poo. maybe. if. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out before I slap myself, I'd like to see a dyno pull. preferably with a 5th gen. but seeing the market is probably stronger with the 6th I'll have to wait to see if the results are as promising as what the rocking horse poo does.

    I don't know how much one can get out of a 6th gen with just an exhaust, unless paired with different cams and head work. To me, even stock it's got plenty of power, at least for the street. Does anyone even make aftermarket cams? Seems there is a lot of untapped potential in this ol' V4.

    $600 for a Tyga header is a lot, if all your gaining is a few HP.

    Spend a bunch of money on cams, shave the head, higher compression, straighten the exhaust ports and you have a RC 45. lol

    I would take CandyRed's offer and ride his!

    You will have much more than an rc45.

    "A stock RC45 will produce around 98-102 rear wheel hp once derestricted. With a race silencer this figure can grow to around 107-108rwhp. The OEM silencer is very heavy, so a reduction in weight, often quite substantial with some aftermarket silencers, is also beneficial.

    RACE SYSTEMS

    If you have the urge for something a little more special than just a race silencer then you will be looking at a full system. These again were made by a number of companies including HRC, Yoshimura and Micron. Fitting a full system is less than easy though!

    The only full system that will fit a stock RC45 without additional modifications is the single-can Micron system. These have not been produced for a number of years but do sometimes come up for sale. These systems were made from steel with either a carbon or alloy can. They can be used with the stock body work and retain the radiator cooling fan.

    Next on the list is the Yoshimura system. The most common one seen is the twin-stack system having one silencer on top of the other. This is a very good system and works well with both stock engines and lightly tuned ones. It does however have some draw backs. Although it can be fitted and retains the radiator cooling fan, its' link pipes require the fairing belly pan of a stock RC45 to be cut to allow clearance. This of course isn’t always very pleasing if the bike is stock and is in good condition. The best solution is to find second hand damaged panels to allow this modification to take place. Expect to see around 110-112rwhp with this type of system."


    Mohawk's fifth gen vfr800 is at 120whp on factory compression.
    You have to love that extra 2mm of stroke that we have on rc45's ;)
    On a sixth gen with milled and ported heads, expect more than that.

    If Florida wasn't so far away, I'd take you up on it!

    So just getting a full system and shaving/porting the heads will net over 120RWHP? That's impressive. What about cams? Does anyone have specs for something WebCam or others could grind? Does the airbox introduce air flow restrictions at that point?

    You really need to read through some of mohawk's and highsidenz's posts.

    Mohawk got to 120whp with airbox mods, a two brothers header, custom cams based on rc45 specs and Rapid Bike Racing handling the tuning.

    Highsidenz did the same, plus cbr929 pistons and I think maybe some head work. He is at just about 140whp.

    Thanks Candy, I have read Mohamws but not highsidenz's build. For some reason I thought the RC 45 had near 120hp. I'm hoping that 2017 will have a Honda V4 sport bike.

    As far as the Ape V4 in a VFR..... thats why they build the Tuono. With the 2016 having 175hp!

    You're welcome. Yeah the rc45 is a great bike. But power wise, its not much different than a vfr800, unless you get your hands on HRC parts, which is the equivalent of rocking horse poop made out of unobtainium.

    Couple of friends have RSV4's, oh man are they sexy bikes. One guy and his wife both have one, his is the factory. He was running it at Barber in advanced last year, that thing sounds so sweet.

    Good thing, or too bad it doesn't have gear driven cams.. http://www.cycleworld.com/2012/07/17/tech-analysis-aprilia-rsv4-factory-engine/9/ Talk about an engine. Talking with Mike about our believed V4 potential while he was dyno tuning the viffer, he told me there's lots of hidden HP in the VFR engine, he shakes his head at Honda for not making another sport version, he loves that motor. Be fun if it weren't going to be so freaking $$$ to let him have at it on one.

    Awesome article. They really over engineered the shit out of that rsv4 engine, especially with the closed deck block and huge bore spacing. All the thought put into straightening out the intake port and throttle bodies was really cool.

    So I just accidentally bought a Two Brothers Black exhaust system....on ebay....made a lowball offer and the seller accepted...$400...I win!
