I believe the 2nd Gen. VFR700/750 is the most reliable engine Honda has engineered. Too bad so few bikes were imported to North America, and that engine was only in the one model. I believe it is/was too expensive to make and keep their large profit. Hence the return of the Inline four CBR's.

Dino I like the 85!! I have an 84 with 47K on it. My friend and I just got it back into great running condition. Bad head gaskets. We also cleaned up the top end, lapped valves and so on. 009.jpg Iv'e had it for about 4years and put just over 20k on it. I have three bikes.and I would have to say it's the one i really like riding the most

I bought mine new in 84 too! and I still have it and even ride it to work now... here it is, 32 years later, it's had its down times but running better than ever right now. I have a hooligan FZ09 but my little interceptor is more fun for me. I rode my buddy's 300 ninja recently thinking it would feel much better than my old little ceptor but it didn't, the 300 ninja is a nice little super easy to ride bike with great balance, power is just pretty flat on the little ninja though, just IMG_20151205_093555 (1).jpg no thrilling little surge as the revs go over 8k that I enjoy daily on my little bike....good times! freeeway.jpg Miles on this one are only 14.5K or so (speedo gear was broken a couple of times). freeway2.jpg

Mine is a 83 750 with 7,000 on it. I got it from the original owner. I am in the process of restoring it. I just picked up a 84 700 with 30,000 on it to use as a parts bike. I want to rebuild the original 750 motor but I don't thinking will be a cheap or easy task. This way I can enjoy the bike with the 700 until the time comes to rebuild.

I've got an 07 Z1000 with 11000 miles , an 81 185 Yamaha Exciter with 5000 miles and my GF just picked up a nice little 88 VTR 250 with 17000 miles which I just got to run right. The front slow jet was plugged solid.

The chief's VFR800-A 2003 model has 125000 miles on it, my 1999 VFR800FiX has 89000 miles only as I have not ridden it the past three years. We probably do around 10k per year on these, they are the workhorses - push the button and go.

A one-owner 94 VFR750F that gets serviced at my local dealer has been in for the 330,000km service with no major engine work in its life.
