    Hello everyone,
I have a 95' VFR750F that I bought from a friend. The bike sat for 3-4 years with gas in the system. Ran fine before it was parked. Carbs were cleaned. Didnt start. Bought a set of professionally cleaned carbs and still didnt start. I put new plugs in and im getting spark. New battery as well. I cannot figure this out. Any suggestions on what to check?
    Thanks in advance.

Good question for a first post. Hi and welcome to the VFR nut house. As with any internal combustion engine, all one needs is fuel and spark, LOL don't sweat the details right? On this, it sounds like you are allready some what aware being you got some new carbs, are they new new? used rebuilt? or from a running engine? Then there's the test, have you added a bit of fuel like a few drops down each throat of each carb just to see if it barks? Could be a fuel pump issue since you say you have spark, hard to tell from here, but that's what I'd check and do. Just saying.

Thanks for replying and welcoming me! These carbs came from a running bike and were cleaned. Ive tryed tried gas in a spray bottle. Didnt work. I have had a carb shoot a flame. I opened the float bowl drain and fuel flows out. I checked the pump and it pumps fuel. My mind is blown haha

Do you have new fuel in the tank? Old gas often loses the highly volatile components that make it easier to ignite.

You may need to get back into the carbs for another clean. The starter passages are very fine, as are the low speed jets, and it won't take much to clog these.

Well now, me being me, had this happen to me, next, I'd go the next trial and error method. Some swear not to do this. But I like playing with fire, try some starting fluid with a pretty much worn out of light weight shop rag. the rag will act like a choke. Speaking of, are you using the choke for the see if it runs? again just saying you're there, I'm here , Where's the video? ;) As a pre cursor, Can I presume you changed the oil? Did a compression test? These motors are pretty bullet proof, so doubt there's anything wrong with the timing, maybe, but doubt it. But anything man made is of question.

I will try the starting fluid method tomorrow. I will change oil and compression test if I have time. Ive tried choke, no choke ect. A white vapor or smoke came out the bottom when I drained the oil. Not sure if youve ever seen that. Thanks for all the help.

How much oil came out when you drained the crankcase--and did it look or smell like it had gasoline in it?

i've drained one that sat for several years and got nearly 3 gallons out of that sucker--nasty looking stuff, mostly old fuel.

i had a little feller brung me a set of carbs that he swore were clean--he'd had em on and off 5 times and by god they had to be clean, and he was a professional too...but you know what, they really weren't clean.

So i used kenny bob's magic carb cleaning tools and got him some bonafide, certified and verified clean carbs--it fired right up.

Sounds like you might need to ask the squirrel whisperer to look at them carbs for a second opinion--he's bonafide for sure.
