    Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 94 VFR750 as my first bike. I'm loving it so far. I'm a tall guy and I have restraint so I thought this would be a great starter bike for me but that I wouldn't get bored immediately. So far, I've loving it! I've already had some adventures and I've already made some very newbie mistakes.

    1. Left the choke on for let's say an extended period of time (like 1hr of riding?!) Totally flooded the engine but didn't know that at the time. Thought I had fouled the spark plugs or maybe had fuel pump issues. Fortunately I did my research and saw in the owner's manual how to get rid of this issue. Basically, make sure the choke is off and crank the throttle full on and hit the start button. Let go of the throttle as soon as you hear it go high! Let the bike idle and bump the throttle if it is sputtering out. I think I got lucky but lesson learned.

    2. Had to walk the bike 4 blocks because I didn't know how to fix the flooded engine immediately. Oh, and embarrassingly I was talking to another VFR owner in my neighborhood when I flooded the engine. He didn't know how to clear it so yeah, good times!

    3. Showed the bike to my family. I'm older but they still don't think it's a good idea for me to ride. Screw 'em, haha! I have full gear except for riding pants. Just jeans. I intend to always wear the gear even in the heat of Mesa, AZ!

Okay, just wanted to introduce myself briefly. Trust me I will have questions to ask. I've already found many useful threads in the forum.

    Anyone else in Arizona?

Hi and welcome to the Madhouse:welcome:

When you get a chance post up some photos of the VFR (or folks will be raggin on you soon...) Its easy click the "insert Image" Icon and follow the prompts to select and upload an image from your computer. You may also want to update your forum profile (Forum Actions- Edit Profile) to automatically include the specs of your VFR and an approximate location city/state is fine - that way if you need help you may find someone living nearby is willing to swing by and offer advice - especially if you have a well stocked beer fridge.

    :focus:

As for the dreaded choke issue that disappeared with the switch to Fuel Injection, and as you now know how to handle this it should not catch you out again.. In the meantime I think you will find there are several other VFR owners in and around Arizona - so hopefully a few will put in appearance soon, and maybe arrange a meet.

    Take care

Hey bullit199, congrats on getting your first bike! :)
My first bike ever was an 85 vf 500, and 20 some years later I'm still obsessed with honda interceptors. Lol
I think you will love your 750, they are great motorcycles!

Nice 4th gens are a great place to start out especially in the vfr world. I've had two 4th gens over a 16 year period, as you said newbie mistake, still, I'm surprised you got out the driveway with the choke on. Mine would let you know after about 2 minutes of running if that long it wasn't happy. But as they say, knowing from first hand experience is the teacher. so don't beat yourself up to bad, we've all done something one time or another similar. But yea, where's the photos? enjoy, I think you'll do ok.

It has a Staintune Exhaust. I just looked at their webstie those exhausts run from $500-800 easily. It does sound nice!

Yes, that Stainetune right there adds like a grand to the bike, as they are next to unattainable, That's a sweet one, very nice. Take good care of it and it will reward you with not only a huge smile, but lots of wonderful miles.
