Enjoy the trip! BC is a beautiful province and you will have great hosts out there. :)

Just watch out for Randy's cherry eating habits.

    Hi fellas
We have been in BC for a few weeks now, most of our sightseing has been by car, but have managed to get one day ride in. Spent a week with family at Okanagen falls, rented 2 bikes from Mc Soot in Kelowna. Did a loop from Kelowna to Falkand via Westside rd, then Falkland, Monte ck,blind bay, Salmon Arm, Sicamous,Vernon and back to Kelowna. It was a long 500k day, but well worth the effort.
We are based n Burnaby until early September, hope to get a few more day rides in before we leave here.

Going to the Island, Vancouver Island? That's a nice place to spend some time. From Victoria, you could go up to Port Renfrew. Theres a nice park there with "potholes", they're sized from a basin to a bath tub & bigger. When the tide goes out the marine life is trapped there, makes for a great viewing opportunity. Rugged coastline as well. If you're brave, go for a swim! There is both camping and motels out that way. They have got amazing halibut in the restaurants, as well. Locally caught. Gotta try the fresh Halibut on the Coast. Salmon is very good as well. If you like rugged secluded areas, there is Cape Scott park on the Northern tip of the Island. A long drive, the last part on an improved logging road. (Is ok in a car or truck) You'll be rewarded with very nice coastal beauty. Not crowded way out there as well. A long time ago a colony of people tried to settle there, with dire consequences. This is like 1800's stuff, I believe. There is Fort Rod Hill and lighthouse, closer to Victoria. Was a military base for WW2 and earlier I believe. Lots to see there. I guess they've even found a Japanese one man Sub in the area! Of course there's Tofino & Uculet, that you access by going to Nanaimo, and then west across the Island. There is Long Beach there, and other places to visit. Has been designated a U.N. World Heritage Site.
On the Mainland, you gotta go to Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, Cache Creek, then back. Or find a good route back, besides Hwy. 5. You have a few choices. zoom-zoom might know that area better than I do? If I go and visit my brother in Ladysmith, B.C., I'll see if you're around, for a coffee? If you're looking for Motorcycle Friendly roads, go on the website for "Destination Highways, B.C." These guys rode VFR's around B.C. and graded the roads. Is done very well. They sell a book, but give a guy a ton of info on the website. Well worth a look. Also, the drive between Banff and Jasper is worth it. Road is not real twisty or anything, but the natural beauty is world class. Have lived here all my life, but is still an experience going on Hwy. 93. O.K., I'll quit now!

    B.C. local knowledge continued

    Ladies and Gents,
I have been looking at some of the suggestions you have all put forth, and I too plan to spend a few days up in the Washington/B.C. area the 1st or 2nd week of September. I hope that school being back in session will thin the scenic roads of some of the holiday traffic, and I would like some opinions from the locals. My plan is to rent a car for the duration for running down to Portland and around Seattle for a few days, but also a bike for 2-3 days, as $550 to transport my VFR each way from North Texas is a bit prohibitive, as much as I'd like to have the comfort of riding a familiar motorbike. That said, has anyone had good/bad reports about Eagle Rider Rentals in Seattle? Although a tad pricey at $160/day plus TT&L, I'd like to rent the Triumph Tiger if my pillion friend would let me, or else the Indian Chief Vintage (only for the comfort and luggage factor). Or in one of the thread entries mentioned Cycle BC Rental may be even better, as they also have a Victoria location. Is early/mid September too risky weather wise for a run up Whidbey Island, Vancouver, Whistler and back to Vic. via Nanaimo ? I did it in a car 3 years ago in August and the weather was perfect, but a guy on an Aprilia at a lookout near Squamish told me there's really only a 6 week window, mid July to the end of August when it's that good. He was doing all his annual riding in that 6 weeks. As I was born and raised on the southern coast of Victoria (Australia, that is, yes another bloody Ex Pat Aussie) I don't mind a bit of inclement weather but, like a prostate check up, would rather avoid it if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated from those of you fortunate to live in the absolutely beautiful Great Northwest.

Generally speaking, weather up in the south west of BC including Squamish and areas mentioned are good. Even into October. Won't guarantee no rain but you should be good for a trip[ up if that's your fancy.

April to October is good as far as I'm concerned. You may get wet sometimes but it's usually great.

    BC riding

Thanks mates, kind of dispels the rumor about the lousy weather most of the year up that way. I'll look forward to getting up there with lots of enthusiasm and confidence that the rain gods will reside elsewhere.
