They will only be worth a laugh after the next group picks up the ball and runs with it.

    $3,100

How Skully's own self created demise will play out is anyone's guess, however It seams to be over for skully.
I would only hope that the technology and drive stays in the industry, In my opinion I think that where we are at with motorcycle helmet technology is way behind in times. We should have the option to go buy a tech friendly helmet if we want that is all in one and built that way.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't saying the value would increase, just saying I think those who are bidding are believing/hoping so! Why else would you buy one?

That makes the 1500 price not look so bad if they were still around.
Ya know I had my own transmission shop for 12 years,
I funded it, ran it, rebuilt transmissions, it was my baby.
I would never have robbed from it success,
That just blows me away that those two boys allowed
themselves to get caught up in there shenanigans.
How can they have looked into a gift horses eyes and killed it.
Skully could have been something huge and at that point they
would have been independently wealthy for the rest or there lifes to come.
What could be over looked right now is the opportunity to be on the cutting
edge of this technology. The technology they were using is nothing very
simple. higher levels of technology that could've been used to gain a empire

Speed you are way over convinced of this tech's application - it is not proven yet. There's *tons* of research into human/machine interactions, you can't just put numbers into people's eyes and expect positive results. There's a lot of research into how people interact with information, carmakers have done decades worth of research into this. It's not simple, nor easy - and I bet Skully didn't bring much to the table. You can get all this info with an easy look at your dash that *doesn't* distract you by permanently being in your field of vision all the time.

There could absolutely be a place for HUD info in a helmet, but it will take quite a bit more engineering than an indiegogo can provide. If *massive* BMW Motorrad hasn't come out with anything yet, how are those two clowns going to do it?

Those ebay'd Skully's are probably going to people who just want to flip them later, but some people are buying them thinking they're getting the Iron Man helmet when instead it's a lame version of the Corvette C5's HUD.

Fightingchance, I don't disagree with you at all about technology, but I do believe that the technology is long overdue in this area. If you read the lawsuit filed by Marcus and Mitch Weller's former executive assistant and bookkeeper for wrongful termination. She was fired days before she filed the lawsuit against the two. And after the fact she claims a lot of wrongdoing on there be halfs, but I don't see anything filed against the brothers to remove them from there business, witch is more than likely why no one can reopen the business back up other than the brothers. This is California and If the brothers are smart they will have or find the money in question to show in court. As a previous business owner myself, I know that there is a lot of things you can write off and get away with. I don't think this is over by a long shot if the boys have a good lawyer unless there just stupid and who is to say ? If they were to win the lawsuit who is to say that they could survive the disaster this could be catastrophic for the company which it probably is.

I have a copy of the lawsuit filed against Marcus and Mitch Weller by Isabelle Faithhaur if anyone is interested in reading.

These asshats raised nearly $17,000,000 but claimed they were running out of money, and they were trying to sell the company to the Chinese just before they were ousted. And they went through those millions in less than 3 years.

That's exactly why I've been following this one. I replace my helmet every few years.

Well said. It also takes people willing to buy said technology. It has to looking enticing enough to be a pioneer and buy one first. People keep bitching about the high price of electric cars and bikes, yet they are not buying one themselves. It first takes people willing to take a chance with new technology, and many many more to follow....for a company to generate much needed revenue and improve technology. Then they can later drive down cost with economies of scale, improve performance, and lure more customers in. Then more companies enter the market, providing needed competition, and lowering cost even further.

Think of skully like this. It was an empty promise. From what I heard, their egos were writing checks that their bodies could not cash (top gun). Even if they did provide their helmet, it could have fumbled so bad as to scare other manufacturers away until they think it is a viable path.

Personally I think the early adopters were just trying to be the first on the block to have the new toy. I also believe that the way Skully went about building this into the helmet, locking it down so to speak, was not really well thought out. Although much harder to build a "universal" device to fit a lot of helmets, maybe they could have approached Shoei, HJC or perhaps even Schuberth and made a product similar to what Cardo did for the Schuberth C3/C3Pro and S2 helmets. Making the core of the electronics fit into the neck roll.

Well I sure hope somebody comes up with a helmet that helps me ride my bike and lets me watch my Oprah re-runs. When I'm going down the road at the posted or prima-facie limit most of the scenery is a blur anyway. I figure then I could put duct tape on the instrument panel and toss oot that little tiny GPS that is so damned hard to read too.

Does anyone know if those helmets the chopper pilots wear are 12 volt?
