I am sure it would - but shipping back over the border a pain - and choice is the spice of life

I just ordered the 1.25 set and I can't wait! I'm old and tall, the stock angle is murder on my wrists.

Are there any issues with the brake and clutch fluid reservoirs hitting the fairing with the 1.25'' risers on full lock?

I just created this account to reply to this thread and ask a question. I test rode the 2014 onwards VFR recently and absolutely loved the bike in every way except for the riding position. I am so interested in buying one but don't want to spend 10k on something I might regret especially if it hurts my back and arms. I love the internet and communities such as these and need your help in ensuring that I am a happy future owner :)

I would really really appreciate if either MotoPumps or another member would post profile pictures of them in their VFR with the 1.25" risers. Its very difficult for me visualize how much of a difference the 1.25" riser will make for long term ownership so a few profile pictures similar to the ones provided at http://cycle-ergo.com/ (if you have any in your library) would help me figure this out.

    Thanks everyone!

So a friend at work is real interested on a great deal here locally, my question is between the 6 gen and the 8-- how much more aggressive is the seating position between the two----
He's been checking this thread out as well
    Thanks

Yup, Evans did all the work for me! :) That article spawned the Goldilocks size of .95" in between the .6" and 1.25" models.

All are in stock and ship immediately.

Is it possible to get higher than 1.25" - thinking like 2".

1.25 appears to be the limit of the cables and touching the windshield.

    Still looking

    Hi Rob

I've tried out the helibars first hand on the previous gen vfr800. Any comments, comparisons on riding position similarities between the various sizes you offer on the current generation vfr800 versus the riding position of previous gen with helibars?

I had a 2003 VFR with Helibars years ago, and now have a 2015 with the Motopumps 1.25" bar risers. The '03 with Helibars was a little more comfortable for me, with not as much pressure on my wrists. My '15 with 1.24" risers is slightly worse, but not unbearable, even at my age of 58.

I think Helibars for the 2014/15 VFRs weren't made because they would require replacing the shorter cables with longer ones. My '03 with Helibars did not need any cable replacements.

Really appreciate your feedback. I love everything else about the vfr800. Really stuck in an odd predicament. Like the bike but not sure whether the new gen is worth the compromise in comfort :(

Did you get a decent test ride? A lot of folks problems are that they don't spend enough time on their bikes to develop the muscles required. Generally speaking if your doing a 300 mile plus day then yes expect to be a bit stiff or spend all day at 30 mph.

If you're okay with a previous gen VTEC with Helibars, I think you'll be okay with the 8th gen and Motopumps' 1.25" risers. But as Fink said, definitely give one a real test ride and see how it feels. But note that it won't have the 1.25" bar risers on it, so take that into consideration as well.

Here's a quick summary of my shortlist the bikes. I'll keep my focus on riding position only:

Bandit/GSF 1250S ABS: I tried two variants. (i) a fully decked out touring version with risers and bigger windshield and (b) stock. Absolutely very comfortable in both setups. In the stock setup I would say it has a comfortable lean 70 degrees or so but the risers make it around 80 degrees and absolutely a delight to ride long distance. You can push your butt back and ride aggressively at 60 degree lean as well - which makes this an awesome setup for 3hr+ riding.

6th Gen VF800 with helibars: Riding position even with the helibars was more aggressive than the stock GSF1250. I'd say 60 degrees. Although I could see myself getting used to it over time.

8th Gen Stock: Brilliant bike in every way except unrideable for me. I took it for a spin for 30 or so minutes but was hurting. My estimate I was at 45 degrees or less.

As another member pointed out that if the motopumps 1.25" risers make the 8th gen similar to the 6th gen with helibars then im in for it. Its only a matter of time before I'll bump into someone in Ontario with the motopumps installed on their 8th gen :) - I cant see myself spending 10k without testing the particular setup :(

Hope this discussion ads to the motopumps and risers issue for the 8th gen VFR.

Already rode an 8th gen without motopumps. It was terrible for my back but absolutely loved the thrill of the ride :)

And I don't even own this bike yet.

Rob thank you for taking the time to make these components happen! I am on the market for this mid weight sports touring bike, a bit of a unicorn in North America. Currently I own a 2011 Suzuki DR650 with an entire catalog of mods which I love dearly and will not sell.

Question: I'm 6'3", what screen and peg lowering kit would you recommend?

BTW my first forum post ever.....

I am quite a bit shorter than you, but the screen I have and like is the Givi Touring screen. Nice height improvement and still looks good.

No first hand info for peg lowering, but you might check with the folks at Twisted Throttle about the SW Motech kit they sell. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/mfw-...btTEinAFV7HpntE6m5Pp6qJwjSLZh1JElARoCP0bw_wcB Not sure if that will fit the Gen 8 bikes, but it might.

    Hope that helps.
