    Lads,

Love the stainless; will they fit no problem?

    Ta,

They should fit and since you have a catted 2000, I don't think performance will be effected, but I doubt you'll find anyone who has purposely installed catted headers on to their VFR. If I was going through the pain in the ass of a header replacement, I would find a set of 98/99 headers and have them ceramic coated, instead of getting all worked up about whether they're stainless or not.

Nah, there is no power difference between them that anyone has ever identified (original magazine dyno tests incl., I have three); better to simply come to terms with the fact that these are *relatively* slow 782cc bikes instead of getting all worked up over trying to make them into something they aren't. The stainless headers are gorgeous and OE, and the cat isn't impeding anything meaningfully (show me same-day, same-dyno runs). The limitations are elsewhere, and an Aprilia Tuono (and much else) would rip a VFR into tiny pieces anyway. It's not why we own them.

Well yours might be slow lol...
But yeah anyways most people go catless for the weight/heat reduction and easier tuning. I will agree, the power difference between the 98/99, 00/01, 02-13 and catless eBay headers is pretty negligible. Calling any of the listed headers gorgeous is a stretch though lol.

Yea, as mentioned above. Question is, why would one want to do that?

Longevity, design integrity, and no substantial power differences, though I suspect from examining period dyno runs that torque is a little better with later systems--and price. Mint stock systems are cheap. 99% of anyone's street riding is done in the low-and mid-range, that's where we live. I'm just not willing to sacrifice design integrity for a few horses on top. Last, if I sell this thing, I want to hand off a proper, full-functioning example that hasn't been messed with. Bikes with all the little tweaks--PCs, the flapper/airbox stuff, etc.--are what I stay away from when looking to buy. Honda got the engines of these bikes right.

Funny, my fifteen plus year old two brothers header is doing great, makes the same torque in the 3000-8000 range and has huge a top end gain from 8000-redline.
As far as Honda getting it right, well they got them to pass emissions standards, but its generally agreed upon that the fueling is terrible in the standard +2000 VFR800's, before tuning.
The 1998/1999 VFR800 were pretty good out of the box though.

So CR46, would a RapidBike even work on a 99? K&N and Delkevic header with a TBR slip-on. Or would I need a newer bike with O2 sensors?

SMH at Lint . yea the RB will work if you add o2s, be ready to spend some coin though. They pretty much are made for the newer VFRs and bikes in general. I like the part about the ignition, but being the VFR doesn't care for much advance except for a few Rs in the mid range, IMO not worth it on our 1st gen 5th gens ;) But hell yea, now on a 012 BMWrr, O baby....

kso,, just you wait, I'll have a header that will kick ass here, sooner than later ;) But it's not going to be overly cheap though.

If some of y'all just want to pump pesos into a VFR to look good at bike nights and maybe be have a smidgen more HP, Norcalboy is the guy to talk to. The big boys IMO would just go with a blower, or just dump the VFR for a used liter GSXR.

Gotta agree with Council on buying someone else's problems. I'm looking for a Honda cage. Buying one with a fart muffler, dropped a foot all around and a clutch that's aboot to slip just ain't a really good idea much less a VFR with a couple of mods just because somebody said they were cool.

Any idea of how much overly cheap is in pesos or Canadian money?

Yes the rapid bike evo and racing modules will work on the 1998/1999's. The self tuning is not mandatory. You can use it with the supplied mapping. You can also have it dyno tuned. If you want self mapping on a 98/99 you will need to add the "My tuning bike" module and wide band o2 sensor. You can use 1, 2 or 4 o2 sensors. I am using 4 o2 sensors for individual cylinder tuning, but one would be more cost effective.
