RVFR ended up with a real purty set of pipes. A little down on HP from stock but old farts don't need to go that fast anyway.

Now lets move on. Let it go. All of the low hanging fruit has already been picked. I too was convinced it was gonna make more power because the factory tubes are puny but the bigger tubes killed it. The engine doesn't need anymore exhaust than it already has. There is a reason this engine isnt making any more power than it was 30 damn years ago. The 2014/2015 VFR/Interceptor despit all the new claimed cam profiles and bullshit is still making the same power. Hell, inline 4 liter bikes have picked up 50+hp in the last decade. This engine is done. Just enjoy the sound

The 2014 was tuned for more lowend and less up top...

I'm not quite sure what is going on with rvf's bike and Dyno results, but I can assure you that this header brought my 1/4 mile trap speeds from low 120's to high 120's and it was also documented by Mohawk to make 6whp, with out loosing anything above 3000 RPMs. I'm not ready to roll over on this one. I am sure rvf will get to the bottom of it.

I Sure am... It's been a busy day, but just heard back, and had quite the conversation of the RD techs at KN. I mean I'm not kicking the Piper cross to the curb....yet. Seems as though KN did make a larger filter, ah back in 04 TJ8mJC3 - Imgur.jpg due to fitment issues, they make what they have now.

I want to say thanks to Slowbrid over at VFRD for supplying the photo for proof. LOL even this took the KN techs back, going what!!! In the mean time, they're looking to see if they have any flow models to see just what went on in the redesign. Not much hope there, being its like 13 years ago and the VFR ain't all that important from a performance stand out.. So have a feeling if I want that filter, its going to be more of the same rocking horse poo again, or make one using material from one of their other filters. which just might be the thing ;)
Now on the other part to this, Yes I'm taking the Viffer back to the dyno doing a KN run, and also be bringing some extra mid pipes for playing with. Then from what we see, I just might throw the stock header back on and see how that does now with close to the same elements for the question of conditions being closer to the same, could be I had a fluke of luck on that first dyno run. IDK.. it's a good question. worthy of finding out. Maybe.

Now for those that like to be, why go to the trouble, leave well enough alone. I say Ha! the V4 engine is a remarkable piece and I still believe it comes restricted. If it works the way it is for you Great! For me its a worthy challenge. God knows folks have poked and pried not getting much, that and most are dyno butt trials, thats ok. Until I see actual proof in my hands, it's all hear say IMO. less what Mohawk and Higheside have done. It's all good. I'm having Fun.

I have never been one to trust any numbers that come off a dynojet dyno. I'm not slagging on Velasco, but I think the ability to make fake numbers is definitely there. The 111+ hp with a slip on and a K&N was all I needed to see. If it were me, I'd give Gary Ricci a call at Ricci Motorsports in Woodinville, WA and see about getting it on their EC997, it wouldn't take long to get to the bottom of it. The only problem is....the Staintune has been buggered to fit the header, so comparison will be difficult.

The good part to the Staintune being reworked is, it wasn't so much the size, as the Staintune mid pipe, it was 2", as was the 2Bros mid pipe. The length also pretty much stayed the same when redone to fit, it was more about the angle leaving the 2Bros collector. My thought fwiw, this shouldn't be an issue. I like this, love to have another outa the box opinion, which reminds me I haven't heard back from Erik Dorn. Think I'll drop this Ricci guy a call, if for nothing else see what he thinks as well.

That's funny, all this time it existed, it only shows up on the forum well after K&N changed the design! Interested in knowing what K&N has to say why they changed it but that's probably not going to happen.

Well if the big K&N disappeared in 2004, how the hell did that cat2rider guy/troll get one a few months ago. Providing it wasn't just a random Google pic lol.

The KN gal and guy, yes, there was two conversations, both said because folks where having fitment issues, then there was a quality control issue, that created a new design. Well that's the story I got. But yea, they are out there, some where.

If the RVF750 can make 190hp then this should at least get 120 - 130 fairly easily.....

I agree. I've read that the 2007-2011 Honda MotoGP 800cc V4 made 220+ hp... In my ignorant opinion, 2/3 that (and reliable) should be easily doable...

A good benchmark of whats possible, would be EDR Performance's GSXR792 build. They have a very low reading dyno and They went from 132whp (stock engine, full Akra exhaust, VP race gas and tune) to 165whp (built 792cc engine, full Akra exhaust, VP race gas and tune):

This was done while still maintaining a beautiful power band, none the less...

Is the VFR restricted? Sure by cams, valves, crank, pistons, rings ect. Not so much by the exhaust system. You would have to throw probably as much money into the motor as the bike cost. Comparing it to super expensive race orientated motors is apples and oranges.
