this years Isle of Man tv broadcasting begins this coming Saturday night on Velocity channel ,seems as usual that we in the USA only get half hour highlights of the previous days racing. the UK has all sorts of programming on the TT .been digging thru the web trying to find any US broadcasts of qualifying, practice ,or just plain info with very little results. seems that if it's not stock car, golf ,poker,or stickball we 2 wheeled fans get overlooked . just PISSES ME OFF!!!! anyone else share these thoughts?

Europe is way more into motorcycle and Formula One racing then the U. S. Here, NASCAR racing and drinking huge quantities of beer is the main motorsport. Round and round and round and round in identical cars........

And the beer is the opposite, almost identical content in different (round) cans... Like making love in a canoe. :biggrin-new:

I'm out of town so going to watch the TT when I get back. But I saw this....

What is the fing problem with the SP? Not good for the new CBR, a lot of guys wrecking it. Now Guy Martin had a massive get off. Looks like they are going to pull the CBR from the circuit.

The racing so far has been very good, the TV coverage is now the worst it's ever been, it's become a "show" with "personalities , so 60 minute show covered 3 races briefly and over 30 minutes of bollox

The weather is crap this year compared to the sunny days last year that had many doing over 40 practice laps, with much reduced practice, it is a road circuit after all, times are down, the high winds made the Superbike race a real trial ... Hutchy deserved the win

Can't wait for the Senior of Friday, Michael Dunlop is either going to win or destroy the bike, getting beat in the Superbike by Hutchy really pissed him off

with all the rain this year the media guys have to come up with something to fill the hour ,the interviews have been good (somewhat hard to understand, lol, need close caption ).in past years the tv only gave 30 minutes .Isle of Man TT website has real time info when racing is on . Friday is going to be a full day due to cancellation of Thursdays racing.

Man, I know there are deaths at the TT each year pretty much, but three deaths already by Wednesday. May the motorcycle Gods have mercy on their souls.

All racing short of the tortoise and the hair, claims lives. At the IOM there are deaths on the course when the TT course is open to the public. Usually Germans for some reason. The racers, aka fast guys know the score. Us slow guys with IQs just above tepid know that two wheel vehicles with engines are generally more dangerous than four wheel vehicles with engines. We ride anyway.

Gestalt or no, go to any race event of choice especially motorcycles IMO and watch the riders as they leave the parking areas.

Then again, we could just wait for great leader to evict everyone who lives on the IOM so he can turn the whole place into a 37.5 mile golf course.

Part of the reason here in the US for a lack of real "road" racing are fatalities. Most states require deaths on public roadways whether closed for a specific event or not to be investigated by law enforcement agencies. On closed courses in other climes this is not in effect as well there are courses that use city streets that are exempt. ie Long Beach..

True BB. I was just sad three riders had died already. I don't want it shut down, nor do I want it watered down. It is an exhilarating race to watch and I was jelly when a co-worker went to go see it a few years ago. It is just claimed as the most deadly and what is probably why GP racers give it a wide berth. The racers know the risk so game on! Brrraaaaapppp

On the subject of US racing, deaths, and liabilities, remember this from a few years back? "Sloppy" seconds, ok, that was in poor taste. Child's play compared to the safety measures for Baja racing.....AKA...nonexistent pretty much.

The GP fast guys if they weren't for the most part contract riders might not give the IOM that wide berth. Races generally do not stop because of wrecks a/o fatalties. They clean up, mop up and go again.

Save your pesos and go sometime to see it firsthand. TV just doesn't do racing at that level justice. (Yep..Twice) .

They may have to come up with something, how about a full show of racing, there was enough going on ....who's idea was it to get Graig Doyle (Mr double glazing) to front the show?

At least it wasn't the babbling fools who cover MotoGP for us, pity you can't turn the commentary off and listen to the bike

This from Der Stuka keeps popping up in my Email and has left the room where Elvis was, so I thought I should maybe respond.

C'mon now BB, you be putting words in my mouth. I was just sad three riders had died already. I don't want it shut down, nor do I want it watered down. **Tossing out some journalists take on the dangerous and yes sometimes fatal aspect, of one race course is hardly an argument with merit. There are those that would ban all racing. I submit there are those who save for the possible fatality of death by tiddlywink would have that banned too. It's patently obvious where the message lies. Shut it down and save lives.

Are there race fans who go to meets to see blood and guts? Yep. Are they bike folks or car folks? We discount tractor pulls and destruction derbies here. As a not very good ex racer of little note if some dude told me to bail out when I was doing my thing a shitload of years ago because some other guy half way across the world bought it. My terse response would be to walk off or tell the dude to fuck off.

The jelly you refer to might be another substance that most of us would have in our knickers when even somewhere near the 200mph the fast guys are hitting.

Sad indeed that the truck got loose and took out some spectators. This shit happens all the time in rallye type events outside the US. Different rules of point accumulation overseas accounts for some of the hazards but mostly the fatalities happen when there's a bunch of spectators crowding the outside of a corner and ya got 500 hp cars going real fast getting loose and wiping out handfuls at the time. The Baja suffers as well from the locals who booby trap parts of the course and then do the same shit as the morons who crowd the outside of the corners in a Euro style rallye.

Major players sometimes quit racing because of the unforeseen. Mercedes-Benz ceased racing for years after some 70 spectators and the driver were killed were killed when a MB 300 SLR with a high magnesium body got out of control, caught fire, climbed a wall and took out a shitload of spectators who were viewing the 1954 24 hours of LeMans event from what was a safe viewing area.

Not meaning to put anything in your mouth but I will offer some fodder to smoke in your pipe. Check out highlights of any of the good ol boy roundy-round racing down South. What is shown? Crash and burn...
