I recently equipped the '00 with a Signal Dynamics headlight modulator, having recalled great success with several installed on bikes in the '90s.

Man alive, do cagers ever see me coming. After a few hundred miles of city riding, it's startling how much more visible I am, though I still ride as if invisible. I have direct eye contact with significantly more people than when riding without-they stare right at me. Highly recommended.

You're right. I won't ride without a headlight modulator. I do try to use it only when necessary, I don't run the modulator on highways or things like that.

    I use the Kisan Pathblazer.

Personally I find them annoying. I'm surprised that they are not outlawed as it's my belief that only emergency vehicles should have flashing lights.

Disclaimer: I am a volunteer fire fighter.

Perfect; that means you see them. They're modulating, not flashing; hence they're legal in most states.

Huh... The front one is really annoying the back one for braking is ok.

Darn, I forgot to include "cue rebuttal post from anti-modulator guy in 3... 2... 1..." at the end of my post.

... because there's always a reply from "anti-modulator guy". And, as always, the anti-modulator guy makes a comment about "flashing" lights being illegal for non-emergency vehicles. I'm disappointed that anti-modulator guy didn't mention how "loud pipes save lives" in his post, because everybody knows that loud pipes save lives.

In BC, Flashing or modulating headlights are illegal for anything other than emergency vehicles. But our Motor Vehicle Act of BC specifically provides for an exemption fro motorcycles so long as they modulate and not flash. The Act makes reference to some Canadian Standard that is buried quite deep in the books. I can't speak for other jurisdictions. But the reason there is that exemption is purely for the safety of the motorcyclist.

Personally, I think it is a good thing. Remember the old Harleys? They all had modulating headlights. Ooops. Those were just loose hanging headlights I suppose.

Modulating headlight since day one on the vfr. I have kriss brand. Plug and play. Works great. Im sure it has prevented many accidents. I wouldn't ride in Florida traffic without one. Also have brake light modulator. It's great also. Anytime you can get cagers to see you its a good thing.
