Stickier wont make up for lack of experience. I would say almost any tyre on the market would be able to out perform most riders as would the bike. The biggest problem in most corners is the rider. If your entry is wrong then so will your exit. Concentrate on being smooth. Start off slow and work on the correct lines then gradually up the pace, most of all stay relaxed ,as you tighten up so does the bike. Go out and read a copy of twist of the wrist, or the roadcraft the police riders handbook (if you can get it over the water) or any advanced riding book and practice. most of all enjoy and stay safe.

I doubt your tires are sliding. If you're scraping pegs and losing traction, you need to calm down!

The first 750 miles of our 8th gen have been in the canyons and the tires haven't lost traction yet?

You're tipping into the corner too early and running wide as a consequence

If you leave the tip in later you'll carry more speed and never run wide .. best you practice this a bit first tho as a newbie

Much thanks to fink thannner and thumbs and up to mr thumbs too! I'm going to work on entry speed and my lines through the corner. I know that'll make me a better rider. Thanks again my internet friends!

The advice about your line MIGHT be right, or not. We haven't seen you ride. Another thing that can make a bike run wide on exit is the suspension settings. For instance, your fork rebound could be too fast causing the front end to "pop" back when you release the brakes or get back on the throttle. You should be able to smoothly roll on the throttle from the apex (or even before) but doing so while increasing lean angle will bite you sooner or later. Working on your line isn't going to hurt, but a bike can run wide on exit without sliding or picking the wrong line. If you are exceeding your comfort levels, you need to slow down before you get hurt. Even the stock Dunlops, while utter crap, are still good for peg dragging lean angles provided you don't upset the bike, and it is hard to be smooth when you aren't comfortable.

Also altering throttle and braking alter your line. Would suggest getting some advanced training .

UPDATE! on my last post about a tire purchase (the Bridgestone Sv21 Hypersport) , and my excitement thinking for me this was a deal. I came into some "free" spending money and thought that I would buy a set to put on the shelve for when I did not have the funds. I went to the cyclegear and asked about these tires and found out that they are a dual compound, but life is about 3,000 miles. The guys working were great and younger and rode these tires on their own bikes. Very informed employees thank god. They did not have a complete set. So I looked at the Bridgestone Battlax t30 EVO rear on the shelf and they wanted $230 for it and the front was not in stock and they wanted $165 for it. I'm Glad I did not pull the trigger on the S21's even though they would honor it. But, I was even more amazed at the price for the Bridgestone Battlax T-30 Evo's.

At the beginning of the year due to confusion on knowing acronyms, I bought a set of Dunlop -Sportmax-Roadsmart-II. I paid $256 for the set at www.rockymountianatvmc.com. so about 2,300 miles and looking good on these. But, again with available cash looking to stock pile a set of good tires. Again I went to www.rockymountianatvmc.com and just received a set of Bridgestone Battlax T30 Evo's for $276 vs. $395 at Cyclegear.com

Entering, holding a line in, and exiting a curve should feel exhilarating and fun and safe.

So if it's not, slow down so you feel that way and work yourself up so you feel that same way.

Just takes time and practice...one reason I love going out of state to find curves.

I recently surprised another rider that a "Kansas girl" can actually ride. I'm not the fastest, but I'm fast enough to have fun, keep up with most "guys", outrun some, and get to the edge of my tires.

    Tires...

The S21s...I'm in love with them. I'll have a more comprehensive review of them at the end of their life. I'm guessing 5,000 miles. We'll see. This set takes more effort to turn in, but brings extreme confidence in holding lines well. They stay where you put them.

I've ran the T30 EVOs, and while I loved them (not for tire life as these S21s) and the quick turn ins, they do not grip as much as these S21s.

These S21s also did fine in the rain. I also put on 1,000 miles recently of straight slab and only 500 miles of curves. No flattening out at all yet.

Just my opinion of course and it will vary for others in different riding conditions and styles of riding.

If I need a long distance set: Michelins
If I wanna have a super fun set: S21s

I agree with the comments on the S21. They give that dial a lean feeling.

They won't last as long, but the new Michelin Power RS is the best I've used. I wear the edges out way before the center, so if you commute and hit the canyons hard, they shouldn't be too bad. I can't commute daily with my job, so my bike only sees the SoCal mountains save for the annual trip I get to do. YMMV.

Even though I still have plenty of miles left on my S21s, I bought a set of the Michelin RS tires for the 01, for once it's ready to get back on the road. I have the S21s on a set of spare wheels. Most likely I'll be swapping them on/off the 6 gen when I want to play, this way I can use them up and not use up the "commuter" tires.

Although it's all in my head, I always used Michelin and when I did switch to the Bridgestone, that's when I had my low side, so there's a little apprehension getting back on them, at least at the level I was using them at. Never really thought of myself as being superstitious, but alas, it is there at the back of my head. ;)

I'm 6000 into a set of t30 evo and will be buying another set whenever they are used up. I'm satisfied enough with their street and track performance!

The feedback here is really fantastic. I'm going to take experienced advice and get training on a track not the street. I know I have to take it back a notch considering all the variables that are out of my control. I want to be a better more controlled rider. I'm approaching 3k on the new bike and can't thank everyone's feedback enough!!!

I will have to check when I get back into town, but I am almost possative my '14 came with Battlaxs. I am not very impressed at all with them either...even compared to other oem rubber.
Nobody has brought up Q3s. Any reason? Run them on my Busa and they are amazing. Point and shoot! I am planning to swap these with Q3s when needed for sure.

I would think that Honda had a contract with Dunlop for all of the 2014 VFRs. I would think it weird to find Bridgestone Battlax's on it. Everyone hated the OEM tire.

Yea, I may be incorrect here, but I remember when I picked it up at the dealer in Denver to ride home I checked the tire to see what they were. I swear that is what I read. I am curious now! Will know Monday!
Either way, these oems are going to get replaced with Q3s for sure.

I think your choice is great since it will give the group another tire review. Keep us informed.

    Dunlop Q3.
As far as reviews, I won't go with any other tire on a sportbike. They are actually good enough to ride to a track, ride on the teack, and ride home. The compound is a bit harder on the bottom vs the sides which help them last a little bit longer than other performance tires, but cornering amazingly!
If all you do is tour, you may not want these. I ride a bike for the riding experience...the right tire will make or break that. I don't mind changing tires more often. Depends on how u ride, but hey should last 3-5k on average. 3 on an aggressive liter bike, 5 on a lower hp bike riden softer. Kinda like buying a more expensive bike because it rides better I guess.
The pic is what is on my Busa.

While I am not too upset with the stock tires, they're definitely only a 8/10 at most.

You had a choice of Dunlop or Bridgestone when you purchased brand new.

Supplied tyres in general were shite compared to what was available after. Generally as they had been made in Japan as opposed to Europe or the us. This is what I've read , but will agree with as the same make were better after I replaced the OE when they were worn out.

Looks like fink is spot on.
My '14 non delux did in fact come with the Battlaxs. I know people that love these, but they seem pretty chitty to me.
