It was actually a rhetorical statement. I know they're on different machines and was more or less pointing out that Zarco has been doing much better than the factory boys on his bike.

Yeah, in the pre-race season it was looking like MV was going to be the one to beat but that definitely change half way through the year. I stayed up up late too just in case MM took the early victory even though I was pretty sure it was Dovi's race to lose. Had it been a dry race I think the racing would have been better and I probably should have gone to bed when I saw it was going to be a wet race. Then again, I though, what if it was a flag to flag, with MM's record of flag to flag victories I decided to stay up and watch. I'll be doing corner work during the Valencia race so I may not be able to watch it in real time...

Loved Moto 3 as usual. Luthi's high side was really ugly, don't think I have seen one quite like that. Morbdelli was going to win it anyways and Luthi had enough points that he will still get 2nd while missing the race.
Zarco is on fire. I wonder what he would do on the 16 Duc.

next weeks headline: "Rossi crashes into MM and Dovi wins the Championship. " The Italian payback.

As in marshaling at the race? Or at a local track? Either way that's cool. The guys doing corner work for some of the organizations get a half a track day free. I'm headed back to the track on Friday. Trying to improve those lines.

    -------Potential Spoiler Alert---------
    Back on topic.
MM may not have as many "friends" out on track as Dovi. Could get interesting if he ends up dog fighting with a couple of the non-contenders. Also MM isn't beyond tucking the front when running all by himself. Here is a scenario, Dovi leads, MM crashes, but gets back up and has to fight back through the pack to get into the points. Championship is decided by one point, either direction.

Oh, probably should have clarified that. I'll be corner working for California Superbike School in Las Vegas that weekend, so I'll most likely miss the race. We get to alternate our track time with one another while the students are on the track and during lunch time we get the track to ourselves. From what sfdownhill said, when it's a race school, then corner workers get the track in between sessions but not while the school is performing their sessions. I'm hoping to do more next year but the November dates are the last for this year.

 That would ignite such a fury of conspiracy theories! There were already people talking about team orders and the message that was sent to JL on his screen...'Switch to map 8'. There was also a theory that JL's "stumble" at turn 15 was done on purpose but looking at the footage, JL kind of did an MM save there. I doubt he could have purposefully done that, particularly since he's barely mastering the bike as it is. Still funny how stuff like this can create a topic all its own.

I have often wondered why the factory riders do not go to the factories and have more input BEFORE the 'new' bikes arrive and then they have to sort them out especially if they arrive late like the Fireblade did for BSB as you are on the back foot before the season has even started

Ducati is damned if they do, damned if they don't in regards to the "team orders" controversy. From the team's perspective, JL was going to have to "take one for the team" and give Dovi the win. They would have been criticized either way, but better to be criticized and have a chance at the championship than to be criticized with no chance. Whatever Map 8 was, clearly allowed Dovi to close, however, JL's moment sure looked legit from my armchair, and I'm no JL fan; thoroughly enjoyed watching him struggle on the Duc this year.

Some do. Tom Sykes and Johnathon Rae had a lot of input on the new ZX10R. Didn't work out so bad for Kawi. I'd bet that, even at the top levels, egos get in the way from time to time: Engineer's knowing better than the riders and vice versa.

Its not uncommon at all to get factory team orders, especially when there is a championship and manufacturers title at stake. JL definitely had a moment. I wanted to see if he would follow Ducati's directive. Just think if Dovi had not run off at Phillip Island, he was running front times but only made it to mid pack and lost 2 spots at the end with a totally roasted rear tire.

Just think if Marc's engine hadn't expired at Silverstone.

Dovi would have caught him and beat him by about 4 minutes.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Regardless of the woulda, shoulda, coulda, MM will be crowned champ in Valencia.....only three more championships until MM pulls even with the Rossi. He won't have to ride until he's 50 to get there.

That's a great point. Dovi's error is on him, MM's engine popping is out of his control.

The question is, will MM play it safe and take the easy win or go all out and try and get another race win? Personally I'd like to see more of what we got at Philip Island and Motegi and Austria...

I've just watched Moto2 again and midway through lap 2 the commentary mentions "now the Suter is out" ???

Is there any mention of this on anyone else's commentary?

Ducati have confirmed there were team orders

Hats off to JL for such a convincing "lost it" moment
