New CB1000R was revealed and it's about time this bike received an update. Pretty much came out as I expected, but man I really like those wheels... I want them on my VFR1200 or 800. Yet, I have to say that's one ugly exhaust bob.

Yep, get rid of that can, remove the rear pegs/hangers, stick some bar end mirrors and it will be a great looking scooter.

This bike has a lot of potential. Cafe Racers are really popular.

It looks better with the rear seat cowl but it's not bad without it. The can is too big...but aren't they all nowadays? Seen the GSX-R1000 can? HUGE! Thanks to Euro-4 standards. Why do European Union insist on such strict emissions standards? I thought California was bad....Pretty soon they will outlaw gasoline powered bikes. Wait and see.....I'll bet Cali will be right behind that. If it were up to the C.A.R.B. they would put GPS enabled "sniffers" on our bikes and report to the Dept of Motor Vehicles/DOT that we are speeding and having too much fun. Just like they started doing with commercial trucks now.

If I got one of these I would get rid of that cantilevered license plate holder and move that right under the seat. And of course, replace that can with something smaller and less obtrusive.

I rode with a couple of guys on their naked BMW S1000r's. One of them didn't have a windshield on this BMW and he mentioned how this makes the bike less comfortable at anything above 80 mph. The windblast gets tiring at sustained speeds like that.

I recall that my VFR can easily cruise at 95+ without windblast being an issue. In fact, it's not until 120 mph does the windblast dictate a tuck. So I can cruise for long periods at 85 mph on my fully faired VFR. My CBR600rr gets a bit more windblast at 90 mph--way more than the VFR.

So a naked bike looks cool but it really could use even a small windshield right away.

had an 1125cr, sv650, and Z1000.... had three naked bikes before I finally said they weren't for me. The windscreens help, but I don't see how plp ride them at the track.. 90+ I literally had a death grip on the handlebars.

You had a Buel 1125CR? Are we brothers from another mother? LOL! I had a Buell 1125R! The R had a huge upper fairing! Holy $hit that thing had some serious wind protection.

I also had a Bandit 1200 at one point, and although the bike was really fast, even its quarter fairing left a lot to be desired once speeds got above 75 mph. I also had a buddy who had an 1125CR and he let me ride his bike a lot. In the freeway at anything above 75 mph the windblast would throw me around too much. It acted like a natural speed limiter, which was good I guess. Especially on a powerful bike like that. On my VFR for example, it only has 100 rwhp but this bike wants to be cruising at 85 - 90 mph. 95 mph is when the bike sends me the signal that hey, you're going pretty fast now because I'm in VTEC mode! My CBR600rr will naturally tell me 90 mph is pretty fast from the windblast it gave me at helmet level.

Anyway, even a fly screen helps a whole lot more than it appears at higher speeds.

How is it that Ducati has no trouble coming out with a new V4 Panigale with their typical under-bike exhaust that leaves the rear wheel completely exposed and beautiful, while being fully Euro4 compliant? At the same time, everyone else has these giant ugly cans hanging off one side.

Have you seen the Euro- model Panigales? They sprouted the big double cans on the side. No more underbelly exhaust for them in Europe. US models still have underbelly only mufflers.

I was not aware of that. I guess I've only seen pictures & video of the US version.

It may only apply to the 959? Not sure myself but I do remember reading a recent article about the difference between US and Euro models The Euro-4 Noise Emissions are very strict.

I feel a little bad for the guys that bought the previous CB1000R. Only 108 HP, and uglier than a mud fence.

This new one is certainly a looker. But I'm afraid when compared to the GSX-S, performance wise, the Honda is going to get blown into the weeds. Again.

I once upon a time had an R1200RT and put a Cee Bailey "sport shield" on it and that eliminated the naked bike wind problem without being intrusive at all. That bike was an animal.

I like this new Honda liter bike but for the hideous can and license plate apparatus. If people would vote, maybe we wouldn't have to put up with as much government crap. People that complain but don't vote suck......whoever they are.

The Suzuki GSX-S1k puts out around 135 rwhp from an online review I recently read. It's quite a bit down from the '05 GSXR1k that the motor is based on but ok. Honda claims the CB1000r, based on last year's CBR1000RR motor puts out 143 hp. Whether that's rwhp or bhp, who really knows until the bike is strapped to a dyno.

I guess we will find out soon enough. I like both the Suzuki and the Honda but the Honda wins on looks alone. Even looks cleaner than the Ducati Monster 1200, with all of its cooling, plumbing and crap out for everyone to see. The Monster also gets the cantilevered, hideous license plate holder.
