What sort of weather would you expect in the second half of May? Are you guys all over the map, like CO?
I don't want snow and would just as soon avoid excessive cold, like below 50 F.
Also want to avoid the summer tourist season rush if possible.

2017 end-May into June, I did 8 days of AZ-UT-AZ. Cool in mornings or in elevation, but switched to mesh usually mid-mornings. Beautiful weather, I thought I might be late and catch heat, but it was ideal. Only a brief light rain at the Grand Canyon. Stayed at airbnb's - this works well traveling alone because half the time I get to sneak the bike into the garage - and you actually get to talk to some great people.
Lots of tourists - especially Zion.

That's nothing, have you heard of Yosemite?
J/K, see that's what I hope to avoid by going in May.
As long as there is no snow on the road I'm OK. I could do without really cold temps.
You kinda hafta pay your money and take your chances in any case.

Sorry I knew I was short! According to the park service in May 2017- 1,578,335 visited Zions National Park. Yosemite had 353,062 according to park service info. Utah sucks for riders in the perfect months DAMNIT!!!!!! I am going to start a website that says "UTAH SUCKS FOR VACATIONS" with the intent to get the cagers and campers out and let us ride! ;-) But then again 1.1 million people visiting cuts down my taxes and improves Utah's economy! Damn Catch 22

I guess I could google the numbers. NPS web sites say Zion is a traffic clusterfuck, I see.
Bryce looks like a road less traveled, if only a little. At least the shuttle bus is not mandatory.
Weather in May looks to be OK, on average, not too hot.

Any thoughts on other nearby parks or monuments, Bubba?
    Grand Staircase Escalante? Cedar Breaks?
Man, there's a whole bunch of them on the map.

BTW, RU related to this guy? :Pound:

Yes He is my Father! Not really, but I wish I had his story telling abilities!!!!!

This is the best rated ride for motorcycles. http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/583/Utah/Mexican-Hat-to-Bryce-Canyon.html#sthash.h1ppFLg5.dpbs. And I did it years ago and (loved it except when my center stand came down and almost high sided and got shit from the Harley riders in the group that witnessed it come down and luckily go back up!;-)).

To give any advice and the possibilities I need a timeline. You seem to be coming into this from Cali, and how many days do you have? Where is your end location before going home? I mean if you want all out amazing riding with limited time in the parks? Or do you want to stay a couple hours in a park? The route I posted gives you a really good look without going into most parks. But, that is the point I guess for anyone that has never been to these. But the ride itself will not let you down anywhere in the lower 48. I love Arches as you can see with my avatar but that would be a additional route change to the north. Let me know and I would be really excited to have all and any for a ride in an incredible area in my home state.

Oh MY!!! Have you ridden Scenic Highway 12? If you go to there...Zion/Bryce area...you HAVE TO RIDE the 12! Then do it again on the return!

It's right up there on the list of the most epic roads I've ever ridden, and that's something since I've ridden places like Gaspe Peninsula, Cabot Trail, Ice Fields, Beartooth, and the likes.

NO canyon rain days, I may have to come get you out of trouble. Maybe ride with you to keep you safe...??! :)

Let me know asap! If I give you my cell and email address lets get this thing planned and maybe A.M and others will join. I have a old friend that I could contact to see if he will allow us to camp at his house in the Moab area. You really are a 2 days in staying in Vegas. And then I would say 2 days in Utah and back from L.A. Like A.M. Said Scenic Highway 12 Is the shit. All are welcome in my mind if we get this going and planning and reservations should need to be done asap!;-)

Sounds like fun. But don't put me in charge of more than a solo ride. LOL.

I am not Lee, I want to join! I want others to join. So if we can look at dates and time I think a few may bite. Let me know your time line and I will see if I can join at least. I do look forward to riding in this area with you and any others.

Looking forward to any ride soon, it's been snowing and freezing here. Spring can't come any sooner.

Yeah it's been raining here for 2 days and freezing. Can't stand these 62° days and can wait for it to warm back up. These brutal SoCal winters suck.

Bubba - When I did my tour last year, my work friend told me of the Burr Trail, off of the 12, at Boulder. This was an amazing slot canyon that the rest of the tourists don't know about. From all the gazing up left, and right, my neck actually felt better after this out and back side trip. Very worth while!!
Your Mexican Hat-to-Bryce route is what I did and it was epic!!! Just make sure you top-up the tank before the 95 - boy was I glad to find gas at the boat dock crossing the Colorado river.

Hey - it sounds like there may be enough interest to pull off this 2018-VFR trip around Memorial Day. Anybody want to propose a date range to give this some traction. Bubba - any suggestion on what would work well for our meet-up point?

I guess really we need to look at a date or dates. I will be happy to look into a few things depending if we can get a few riders. I have always followed and not organized. I forget routes that are best, but am willing to do the research since for years I have only ridden solo. The roads have improved and Utah is always messing with them. Them Mexican hat to Bryce is allows on the top 15 route in the U.S. last time I did so was in 1998. Pipe in on interest and possible dates. Proper you and A.M have a more current experience and I would love to do this ride again. The owner of my company has a bed and breakfast in Moab. http://www.elranchofandango.com. Depending on interest I could contact him about pricing and availability for a weekend as a base. Safe housing for the bikes and I think that it beds 8 people. Let me know ASAP. Tourist season is just a month or 2 away in Utah's Canyon Lands!
