Blackberry bushes here are absolutely nasty. Here, the thorns will easily go through leathers and cut the shit out of you. I used to love chasing bad guys on foot until they ran into the brambles. Then I just waited there until they asked for my help getting out! You have been updated.

I brought your count up to date. I must have missed something way back though. You were only standing at 1 until your post today. That plus today's 3 is four. I will go back and take a look.

First was 1970 on my 305 Scrambler on the muddy bridge, last was the VF750 again when it fell over in the driveway last year (with me on it trying to get it off the center stand which was up on a cement block), thanks.

    Welp.

Pulled into a friend's driveway while wearing my new motorcycling boots that have a slim sole.

Tried to put her up on the center stand, foot slipped and she dropped over on her right side, I was only able to soften the impact minimally, mostly she just slumped in her right side :/

So I guess what I want to say is....
mark me up @34468 Randy :D

There seems to be no damage, the clutch-plate is slightly scratched, as is the bar-end and the foot-peg-slider broke off and the fairings are a bit roughened up.

    ______

    Just on a short notice:

I noticed 2 small spots of fluid under the motorcycle under the swingarm and around the oilpan where the fairings meet. Now in my area it's slightly wet/damp and I have her standing in the courtyard with a cover on top, so I'm a bit skittish.
Might be the fog/condensating and slowly dripping down or maybe it's coolant dripping out due to a damaged hose by the drop.
Does a drop to the right usually damage "vital" organs of the VFR or is the most damage usually just cosmetic?

Welcome to the VFRW Hall of Shame.

I really doubt that your drop cause any kind of leakage if fluids unless there was an issue before this you may not have been aware of. You might have had a little oil or something in a cavity somewhere that came out after the dump. I would clean up the area where the drops of fluid were found, possibly put a piece of cardboard or white paper underneath, then leave it for a few days and look at what may be there now. From a clean surface, you should be able to identify what the drops consist of. If not further droplets surface, take it for a good ride and then park it again over the paper and take a look to see if there is any fluid. If not, I would suggest you have nothing to worry about. If there is new droplets found, then you can see roughly where it is coming from and should be able to fix the problem.

The only thing that you can damage on the right side which would affect leakage on an minor drop would be a crack or something similar to the clutch cover. But you already said minor scratches so I doubt that.

Ey, thanks for the helpful reply, man!

    How come I didn't think of the cardboard-method?? :D

I just rode her around for a bit and parked her a few meters away from the usual spot so I can see fresh drops, but I didn't think of the cardboard-thing, damn.

But anyhow, thanks for the warm welcome in the hall of shame! Let's hope I'm not a too frequent guest in this establishment ;)

You have a long way to go to catch up to me, then you need to catch up to Scubalong. I will bow to Your Excellency if you catch him!

Well, of all the royal titles in the whole world, this one might be the one I desire the least :D

Which, knowing my luck, basically means I will earn it sooner than later :(

So yeah, @34468 Randy , you better start practicing the bow-procedure :p :D

I wanted to say "that's good", but having dropped a bike is never good :(
good that i'm not the latest member I meant :D

    fuck, man, that really blows.
    happened to me, too.
I had a Honda Shadow before, so a bit heavier weight was ok, but the VFR carries the weight quite a bit higher than the Shadow :/
I (~5'5 or 6, i dont know, I'm european and 1,75^^) managed to pick up the bike on my own, but I think I sacrificed a few muslces and my back in the process, it still hurts a little :D

I actually technically did not drop the ninja your honour. Was on the side stand and as I swung my shortarse right leg over I unknowingly caught the pillion seat meaning I was pushing the bike forward as I sat on it. Of course the front wheel was pointing wholly to the left so down I went. Couple of other bikers saw it happening and tried to shout warnings, but I had the engine running and my lid on.

    This was it.

Damn, that sounds close to what almost happened to me, too!
When mounting the bike my foot got tangled up on the pillion seat/saddlebag-straps & I almost went down.
    Hope there's not much damage?

Mate is a painter and painted rear panel for £60, plus price of a mirror. Only got the bike that day after 8 weeks after some daft lassie rear ended me as I was stationary behind a bus at a bus stop. (About 15 seconds after I stopped, 200 yards of clear straight road with two zebra crossings, police charged her with dangerous driving)
That was the bike I traded in for the viffer as my gf had never been pillion, did not think it was a good introduction using the ninja.

BIKE on its SIDE, touching the GROUND with any other part of its anatomy other than the TIRES AND STANDS is a DROP!
    Executive decision.

I don't know how much of the previous post you read as this is getting a little long, but your rear ended kinda reminds me of one of my drops. My bike was absolutely fresh out of the paint shop having gotten a total new paint job. She sure looked purdy with all that brand new pearl white paint. I was loading it into the back of my truck about to take it in for the graphics, and I think the bike's under carriage hung up on the sharpness of the top of the ramp and down she came, with me under it. Tabernak, that hurt. About $2500.00 in damage if memory serves me. And a dislocated rib....again. I think that was about the 5th or 6th time that rib dislocated. And this was a mere month or so before I was to set out on my retirement tour down to R3 and all about. I thought I was going to have to cancel that tri[ as we ribs seem to take forever to heal up.. But my guddam ole Scottish stubbornness kicked in and I went anyway. I think it was just shy of 8000 miles in 5 weeks. O dropped it again on the trip and Scubalong just kept on riding and left me all alone. the son of a bitch.

That to me was a great tour. I am aching to do another even longer than that one. Dreams are what life is all about I guess.

Anyways, I will reiterate. YOU DROPPED YOUR BIKE! Get over it!

Gosh Randy, that drop sounds horrendous! I am curious about the rib dislocation, was that in your back?

I think the dislocation is where it meets with the cartilage in the front. I had only gone to the hospital once with these dislocations. I took a tumble down concrete stairs arresting some guy years ago and took quite a hit that time. Initially the ER staff thought I may have punctured a lung but that was not to be the case. Anyway I could barely breath, Guy got away. They reviewed the video of the incident and I was told my partner didn't move an inch to help me out. If I had known that at the time, I am sure I could have overcome the pain just long enough to kick that pitiful piece of work right square in the nuts. If he had them. Basterd!
