I had the Angel GTs on my FZ1. It's not that much lighter than the VFR, and is harder on tires for sure. I had 3,000 miles on my set before I traded the bike, and they looked almost new. Plenty of grip in the corners as well. I don't ride much in the rain, so don't know how they are in the wet. Worth a look for sure. Especially if you want something a little sportier than the PR4s or 5s.

Not scrubbed in fully or riden hard through twisties but so far they feel good, was also interesting to see they are still made in Germany...

How are the Q3s in cold and wet conditions, I had Q2s a few years back but while they were great on a hot dry day they were frightening in the cold and wet.

No , he dissed me earlier in another post no28 after I said Diablo Rossi’s 111 were sports tyres and not sport touring.

In general sports tyres have less silica in them and warm up quicker in the warmth compared to st tyres. Where as in the cold weather , as in below 5c sport touring tyres t30 evo warm up and have more grip much earlier than sports tyres s21 which take longer to warm up and retain their temp, “ frightening in the cold and wet” due to lack of grip.

Actually your full stop after the "not" was confusing so was not 100% which way you were going.

Was just pointing out they straddle the mid ground of " Street Sports " and they are edging into the Sport Touring category, oddly the Rosso 3s are even considered ST tyres in some Ducati Forums.

As stated I usually swap between " Street Sport " and " Sports Touring " style tyres since the Pilot Powers came out and changed how I thought of sports tyres for the road in 2004.

The Rosso 2s I had between the Michelin R3s and R4s before my Roadtek 01s were good in the cold wet so to be clear from trying different Street Sports between '04 & now only the Q2s had frightened me in cold wet conditions,

Capabilities seem to catch up or leap frog each other each generation or 2, the Road Sports tyres like the Rosso 3s get similar mileage to older Sport Touring tyres and newer Sports Touring tyres grip better than older Road Sports tyres, trying out each Generation for grins is one reason I've found myself alternating between them.

The Pirelli Angel GTs are a Sport Touring tire. The Rosso IIIs are a sport tire.

I ran the Angel GTs on my last bike and with over 3,000 miles on them, they still looked almost new. That was on an FZ1 with considerably more torque. I was looking for that next step sportier, and the Rosso IIIs are what I'd planned on going with. I've since traded the FZ1 for a leftover 2015 VFR and when the stock Dunlops wear out, I'm putting Rosso IIIs or Sportec M7RRs on it.

With the Angel GTs I found it difficult trying to find the best air pressure. If you inflated them to 36/42 like the bike called for.....they were hard enough, just seemed to lack some in overall grip. Aired down to 34/40 and they started to feel vague. Part of that is due to the flatter profile on the rear though. I was running a 190/50/17, and going to a 55 may help considerably.

On the stock Dunlop D222s, I'm finding they are ok. I'm still breaking in the bike, and it's still pretty cold here....so I've been taking it pretty easy. I'm running them at 34/40 and find really nothing to complain about so far. From the horror stories I've read online, you'd think you'd fall down every time you took a corner.

Has anyone tried or looked at the Dunlop Roadsmart 3s? Branded as their ST/commuter tire - the latter being 90% of my riding. Anyone have a say on wet weather handling?

There's a few guys running the Dunlop Roadsmart tyres in the 8th gen section

I tried but prefer the Bridgestone Evo's I got on now

I have them on the bike now. I had a rear fail with a fatal puncture on the 2014 OEM 222’s. I hated them, so I was glad to have to change them other than putting up money for a set after 3500 miles. I generally stay away from Dunlop due to having issues with them (waffling or cupping) on two bikes. One light and the other heavier than the VFR (1995 GPz1100) but bought this set on recommendations. They were also cheap.

I have 1100 or so miles and am fine with them. I am semi aggressive in riding style and freeway ride a lot, I have noticed a little bit of flatting on the rear. I have not ridden in weather, so I cannot give you any info on wet riding. I am a Michelin man by trade, but after so many talked about the Bridgestone T30evos I bought a set at mid-season last year due to waiting for my always unhappy Dunlop experience. It was also a paranoid act due to never having a tire failure other than wear in 32yrs and 60,000 miles. I was a lucky bastard!;-)

Yesterday I have ordered a new Metzeler Roadtec 01 rear tire, will have it mounted within the next few weeks and see how it performs! :D

A friend of mine was speaking highly of the Roadtec 01, even knew a guy who put Roadtec's 01 on his BMW S1kRR and was ripping up and down in Italy for a week or two and the tire still was good and showed little to no sign of wear and behaved well.

I only have a few outings on them, I have had them in the wet and honestly they were fine, but then again I don't really push hard in the wet.

    Yep, sure do.

Just got back from 4 days down the snowies covering just over 2,200kms ( 1380miles ) of Country highways, tight alpine twisties, coarse chip country back roads, high speed sweepers and found like the Rosso 2s I jelled well with the Rosso 3s. Hopefully they last at least as long as the Rosso 2s did 8,800kms ( 5,500 miles ) but if they don't will still be happy as they made all the difference following the rabbits on GSXR1000s & Fireblades.
