Oh yeah, I forgot, it also got a set of 1000F brake discs. Installed a 1000 rear caliper bracket for the smaller disc. For some reason both right fronts I had for a 750 had a small pulse in them.

New additions for this bike. I trimmed down some stock rearsets to eliminate the passenger portions. I still have some blending and radius work but they came out good so far. They'll get a media blast and paint.

I hope to relocate them a little up and back eventually so I can install some Telefix clip-ons again.
I won't need the muffler mounts because this is going on.

I'm gonna coat the headers and polish the mid I think. I will make some custom muffler brackets coming from the threaded bosses in the frame just behind the grab bar.

This will be going on as well. I need to install a different clevis with the right length threaded post and a correct spring.

Some Comstars will look the part too. But first it will get some 86 VFR wheels to use up a 18" rear Avon I have.

Eventually it will also be getting some 1000F 41mm forks and triples, some 1000 front calipers, and finally a 1000R upper cowl. I am building a set of forks for my 1000F and this bike will get the ones on it now.

    Cheers!

@Captain 80s - What do you think about the stock shock on this model of bike? Is it worth using, if a person has one that still works? Not after Supersport type handling, but want it to be acceptable on the road. Would like your opinion. Thank you.

They are shit, but a properly working unit is probably under the definition of "acceptable" if the criteria is just going down a road. I went thru the trouble of making a stock one ride height adjustable, but only because I could do it at work for free and it was just a place holder until I felt like spending the money on this bike for a better one.

It's a matter of when it will fail, not if.

Get a modified CBR shock or a YSS (or something similar). Money well spent.

Change of plans. I'm going to save those parts and just build another bike. So in the meantime I have some 18/16 Avons off of a parts bike that I want to use up. So I cleaned up an extra VF1000R Comstar and painted a 86 VFR750F rear wheel.

The VFR rear wheel is 3.5" vs 3.0" for the VF. Not usually a fan of non-matching wheels but I really wanted to use the wider rim and thought I might as well throw a Comstar on there. So the coolest looking 16" and the widest 18". Used a VF500F front rotor (solid to better match the front rotors) on the rear and it will get a 86 VFR rear caliper and bracket. Everything is getting mounted up right now, so I'll post some pics when done. Oh, and I mounted the rear wheel and realized I forgot to balance it!!!!!

Wheels mounted and balanced and brakes bled. The calipers I originally rebuilt for this bike, I installed on another bike (wife's CB400 Super Hawk III) when I stole the tires for my all-weather 86 VFR750. So this bike has another full set of rebuilt calipers.

I am going to paint an extra lower chin cowl I have in blue when I run this tail section. I found a really close match, if not perfect.

In any case, it will be close enough for something so close to the ground.
