I thought this was interesting, usually I just use the seat of your pants to fell the first sign if lose of traction.

So many factors but I’m going to say that right about the 61-62 degree mark for some riders (see referenced rider in above video). Although he’s been know to save it quite often, did it again today!

    Heres something I know:

Warm tyres grip better than cold ones.
New tyres work better than tyres with minimum tread in the WET.
If the bike is hard to push, check the tyre pressures.
When you are touching metal (on the ROAD) you are trying too hard.

We never got a chance to get together and get that center stand off, did we?

Who really leans beyond 40 degrees while riding on public streets anyway?

Hanging off the bike is to reduce the lean angle, not to increase the max lean angle.

Yeah I can hang off the bike on the opposite side, lean the bike far on my supermotard bike with gobs of suspension travel, race tires warmed up, on smooth pavement without much problems, but what does that even transfer to my ability to survive riding among drivers talking or txting on their cell phones?

It isn't something I really do except on the track, which is where my picture was taken.

The reason to hang off the bike is to reduce the lean angle.. not to see how far you can lean over.

That is true, however, with it you are allowed greater speed in the turn, which brings with it greater lean angle. At some point, there is a limit to that speed which is ultimately determined by the bike. Hence sport bikes having the design features they do, narrow, with high rearsets, etc, to allow greater lean angle dictated by the greater speed. Else we'd all be riding cruisers. This is the reason I removed my centerstand, to allow greater lean angle.

If you look at the picture, albeit potato quality, my entire lower leg is parallel with the ground. I was already pretty far off of the bike. With the stock footpeg location I hit a limit with my speed as my foot and knee were already firmly on the ground. I plan on getting Sebspeed's adapters so I can put adjustable rearsets on, granting more clearance, in addition to a correct suspension, reducing it getting nearly completely compressed in the turn.

Depending on your goal.. if reaching maximum lean angle is your goal, you don't need to risk corner at higher speed if you hang off the opposite direction.

Nope, just the fastest/safest way around a track.

I don't think most people have reaching max lean angle as a goal. That comes as a result of getting around the corner as fast as possible.

How often do you ride on the track vs street?

That's what the title of thread indicates.. never does the title mention speed.. maybe most people don't read or think.

Not in the title but the video does address speed, lean angle and traction relationships.

Well, I just moved, but prior to that, I actually was riding regularly, as I was a volunteer corner worker for California Superbike School. In exchange, I got free track time.

I'm honestly not that into street riding anymore. Track is controlled and unlimited. Shit like sand, gravel, oil, cars, cops just aren't a thing in the track.
