Installed the new chain and sprockets that I got for Fathers day, changed the oil and installed a top box. First time doing the chain and sprockets. I think it took longer to clean everything than the actual changing parts. Borrowed a friends master link kit. Now buying him another one because it was so cheap that a few parts broke. Managed to finish the job anyway. Then went out for a nice evening ride with me mate Stewart (also on a VFR). So much smoother with the new chain. Mine is the red one with the surprisingly reflective rim tape.

Figured out that my fan fuse blew. Nice to have it cooling again. Especially in the 90+° and humidity of Nashville.

Dropped my bike off to have a DMR fork cartridge kit installed, pcv5 installed, RoadsterCycle upgraded R/R installed, and regular service... I'm also having the shop check to see what can be done with the stock rear shock to make it a a little bit better for the least amount of coin possible. Debating on whether to get an Arai Signet - X in gamma yellow or just go with black frost, again.

Why not have Jamie do your shock as well?
D found me a abs rear shock on eBay for $100 so I could still ride while Jamie was doing his magic.
    Just a thought
All your mods I’ve checked off my list and then some.
    Enjoy

I didn't think he was still doing rear shocks since he was working on his own. Oh, I'm dumb... I'm looking at his site now, he still revalves/resprings old ones. D'oh!

I'd like to upgrade the brakes, but it's just so costly. Especially when I won't be able to get any money out of the bike if I ever sell it (although I'm not planning on it). Do you have a list of your mods?

That's it? Didn't you add rim tape and cut the foam in the seat? then added a SH847 under the rack just saying.

Wow! Waking up at 6am to ride! Damn you are a go getter! I only wake up that early to shoot something to eat. And that is almost never these days. I only wake up earlier that 10am to go riding. And then riding starts after coffee a long shower and going to get some food. So about 11:30am rides start. Go get em cowboy!

I went to the NEW bike shop to pick mine up and they are still not finished after 8 days. Only wanted them to tighten her all up change some, but not all fluids since she has 2,000 on full synthetic that I changed and a recent radiator boil out.;-) and Still without finding the run away tail tidy! May it find a good home!;-) I wanted some confidence before my end of the month ride and did not have time to do it myself. That will show you not to give it to a new shop to do the work. My old great dealership sold and moved out of town. Bastards! ;-)

I want like, all of those things. Just too much $$$... Did you do your brake lines yourself? If not, do you remember how much the shop charged you? I'd really like to get an 8 spoke, and then powder coat both wheels white. Do you remember what Fender eliminator or LED license plate light you went with?

My bike came with a high mount Two Bros CF can, double bubble wind screen, corbin seat, and some type of after market bar ends. I need a 12v plug too.

I can tell you from experience installing the 6 Gen SS lines, the rear brake lines were a little tough as I left the rear sub frame installed. This makes getting to one of the mounting bolts impossible to get to with a socket, difficult at best with a wrench and hard to remove, as the heat shield gets in the way. That being said, it took me most of the day to drain lines, remove lines, install lines and then bleed them. I actually called it a day and them went back in the next mornng to make sure everything was buttoned up and bled the brakes one more time for good measure. It probably could have taken less but I took my time as the brakes are one area you don't want to do half-ass.

After modding two VFRs (2001 & 2009), I will say that the one thing you will get the most benefit and best ROI on is suspension upgrades. Whether that's a whole new rear shock and completely new front end ($$$) or having the stock components rebuilt to suit your weight and riding type you'll be doing, it changes the bike for the better. If you're handy with a wrench, pretty much all the mods Duccmann (and I for that matter) can be done at home, how long it will take is relative to your experience and tools at hand. Of course, depending on your locale, you could always entice a fellow member who has the experience, time, workspace and tools to help you with doing these mods. (If you're in So Cal, I'm usually available to lend a hand).

Although some of these mods will be a bit more costly than others, deals can always be found and many times you can find them in the classified sections here. I got at leat two 8 spoke wheels from members of the two popular VFR forums (vfrworld & Vfrdiscussion) and Duccmann scored the most killer deal on a set of wheels from a 91 VFR (where the 8 spoke rear is standard) off of ebay. Also, nothing says you have to do all mods at once, I did my 09 suspension in two phases. The rear shock first and then the front forks, although in hind sight I think I would have done them reverse order.

About the only thing I'm comfortable doing is oil changes, couple that with nothing more than a socket set and there's not much I'll be doing by myself. I have a 2000, in the fastest color.

I've recently moved to the phoenix area, haven't met any other riders yet. Actually I'm just getting back into riding after being on haitus for awhile. As evidenced by my join date / post count, lol.

Luckily I scored a deal on the DMR cartridge kit from a guy who sold his VFR and never installed the kit. I think I'll wait until I can get Jaime's new rear shock or talk to him about rebuilding an OEM one while I ride the bike around.

I should be getting my bike back tomorrow, new Q3+s, front suspension/brakes, PCV, should feel like a whole new bike. I can't wait!

What would you say is a good price for an 8 spoke?

What I consider a good price for an 8 spoke is $250.00 + shipping. The deal that Duccmann got was insane, $180.00 (shipped) for both wheels!

Dang! I bet the shipping for that alone was quite a bit.
