image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg A few weeks ago I picked up a 1998 vfr that had a run in with a guy wire and power pole. The previous owner was hurt but getting around after the crash that happened in June.
He had owned the bike since 2006 and from the looks of it kept go care of it up until that point.
I had a 1999 a few years ago, and figured this would be a good time to get another one.

First job was a new brake lever to make it easier to get the bike off the trailer

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Started to piece things together, this fairing was off my original vfr, it has a crack down by the right turn signal, but it's pretty good to get things lined up

image.jpg Got something in the mail today.
Found a guy named Marc in Quebec that was nice enough to sell a set of blue honda plastics off of his 2000 vfr (any one know the name of this colour?)
I'm on the hunt for a blue gas tank and passenger seat cover if anyone has, or knows of one available.

image.jpg image.jpg Took the tank off to see if I could make it look like something again until I can source a better one

I wouldn't call it pretty, but time with a BF hammer and a block of hardwood give it a little volume back anyway.
I'll just keep working at it to make it a little better

In case you have a hard time finding a 5th gen tank, I believe the 6th gen tank will fit with a minor modification to the hinge bolt spacing.

Good tip, I'll keep that in mind if I see a sixth gen in the right color
    Thanks

Found a rear sub frame on eBay, $133 CDN shipped, which sounded pretty good :)
Says it should be here betwee aug 23 and sept 4 (then expected o September 4). I can't wait to get this thing moving under it's own power.
I would love to be able to take this to the wharf rat rally, but if the parts aren't in until September, I guess I'll be stuck taking my Harley lol.

Starting to go back together :)
Rear sub frame came in the mail.
Next big thing is the tank, finding parts has been the hardest part for sure.

As for colour codes this thread may help

    http://vfrworld.com/media/2001-vfr-in-tahitian-blue.34110/

If that looks like the replacement panels you obtained then the paint code is PB-215C in case you need to do any touch up work.

On the 5th Gen models - that blue was offered as factory option in 2000/2001 only but was not officially offered in the USA although it was available in Canada.

Could be, the panels came from Quebec, off a 2000 vfr that was turned into a street fighter, and I just received the gas tank from Athans Greece.
I knew about it only being a 2000-2001 colour (was informed after I received the panels from the previous owner)

Got the rear of the bike put back together.
Swapped everything over from my old gas tank to the blue one, and got it installed on the bike.
Figured I would toss on the side panels and take it for the first yride.
Just need to take the time to change everything over to blue.

IMG_0620.JPG IMG_0621.JPG Not a big fix, but the engine shut off switch was broken when I got the bike, so I found a cheap right hand controls on eBay and just swapped out the switch. The eBay controls were all Covered in white overspray. It went pretty smooth, not sure if I could have bought just the switch from Honda, but I know when my high/low head light switch stopped working I had to buy the complete left hand controls.
