    Thanks Gator.
    We’ll be there over Christmas.
    I’ll book accommodation there soon.
Looking for a place where we can have a special Christmas Eve dinner.

A few of my friends from out of state came to California to visit the plethora of amusement parks we have, Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, Disneyland, Lego Land (in Carlsbad). Anyway, they stayed in Universal City, it’s freeway close to several freeways that take you either East-West, or North-South. It’s literally right where Universal Studios is and about a 45 minute drive (sans bumper to bumper traffic) to Disneyland. Literally a drive over the Cuehenga pass and you’re in Hollywood. A short jaunt West and then South (101/405 Freeways) and you’re able to get to West L.A. and Santa Monica (beach city).

Hopefully Gator’s brother will have some ideas too, I haven’t been to that part of town in quite in while and my friends did this a few years ago but they said their stay was good.

This is really going to be an intensely action packed trip for you guys. Are you going to take another week off when you return to the Land Under to recoup? I am really hope I get the chance to come in and have a meal with your guys in Vancouver, if you are unable to make it out the valley my way, which is understood. There is far more interesting things to do an see in Vancouver or Whistler than there is here. There is Sasquatch Ski Resort nearby here but I don't think they have accommodations other than private lodges up there yet.

Looking forward to meeting you and the family.

I'm a refrigeration tech, so this is my busiest time of year and where I make most of my money.
I'm still trying to work out what I'm going to do with all the hospitals and retirement villages I look after while I'm away, so I'll be in the thick of it when I get back.
Our family has the ability to function without much sleep and utilising most of the day while travelling, but 31 days will test our staying power.
I've planed a couple of rest days in our itenary, but I find it hard to stay still when there is so many new things to see.
We will be going to Universal Studios, as my girls will not let me miss Harry Potter world.
But I like the idea of being somewhere to easily walk to dinner, breakfast and look around.
We normally avoid hotel restaurants, and prefer to get out and see the town.
We have two weeks in Vancouver Randy, I'm sure we will find time for a good meal/coffee/scotch. Do they have good coffee in Canadia? Or is it American black water? :Eyebrows:

Well, it sounds like fun. I've seen O and it's incredible. I've been to Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Zion, Moab, etc and they are all worth seeing. I am now located in Sacramento so if you end up taking I-5 north and need a place to break, you'd be welcome. I have an extra room and a hideabed couch in the living room.

Don't drink any coffee in any American city on the Columbia River. Revelstoke BC dumps their sewer into the Columbia . We have Starfucks if you like that shit but I prefer Timmies.

It's getting closer and we are planning along.
Springdale at Zion booked for 4 days. (my kids are rolling their eyes at me for making them hike)
It looks like I'm getting a free pass for a day or two while in LA.
So.... started looking at hiring a bike and getting out. Eagle rider rentals is sticking out, anyone have opinions?
    Any suggestions?
A doner bike will not be scoffed at, as long as it's not a cruiser.
Happy to reciprocate to anyone heading down under. (actually, I'm happy to suply a bike to anyone visiting, plenty at my disposal, you will have to ride the 5G though)
Dates for this is either the 20th or 21st of December.
Also looking for a good place to stay around Santa Monica or there abouts if anyone has suggestions (not asking for freebies).

So far I've booked Las Vegas for the 23rd, Springfield at Zion for the 24~27th, San Fran (2 blocks from fishermans wharf ) on the 30~2nd and Vancouver (Kitsilano) from 5~18th.
Still need to find a place in LA, I'm thinking near Santa Monica, Universal or Hollywood.
Hey Ducc, do you need the early entry pass into Universal on top of the normal ticket?
Can I buy the tickets now and add early entry later?
    Looking forward to it.

I once visited a "Birds of Prey" center in Duncan, B.C.. I'll include a link. It was a very worthwhile afternoon. If you are looking for something a bit different to do on the "Island", check it out. There's a flying demonstration in the afternoon that is very cool!

I'm not Duc but I've been to Universal a few times and I've never purchased the early entry thing. It never seemed overly crowded to me. It's crowded, but it's not Disney crowded. It was designed much later and I think it's laid out well enough the it flows the crowd through okay.

Spent a few days in LA, then headed to Palm Springs, I like that place.
Now in Las Vegas to see the “O” show.
A good drive on back roads through the desert on a hired Suburban. The picture above is from our road in the Mojave Desert
I tip my hat to Roy (Duccman) who went above and beyond to help out a fellow VFR rider.
Thanks mate, I hope to be able to return the favor one day.

My pleasure, glad the girls had a great time.
Hope you didn’t spend to much on Harry Potter merchandise.
