Ahoy VFR world. In my newbieness I signed up and used my actual name as my stage name, doh.
I'm from down South in Hampshire, been biking since 2000, owned an NTV 650, Fazer 600, Thundercat, Thunderace, Fireblade, KTM SMT and now a VFR800F. I work offshore, currently in the North Sea for Christmas. I've had the VFR for about 6 months, I was desperate for something reliable after the misery of owning a gremlin riddled KTM and the Honda is great in many aspects. I've fitted a few bits to make it better and hope to get it going a bit quicker too......

North Sea huh? Did you equip the VFR with pontoons?

Welcome to the World. You can get back into your profile and change your handle if you wish. Many here use part of their names, some even the full name. Each to their own and its is up to you to keep or change your handle as it stands now.

Hi Tony and welcome to the MadHouse:Welcome:

Out of curiosity what year VFR800F did you buy?

I assume you own one of the 8th Gen VFR800F models (from 2014 onwards) which finally had decent charging systems fitted unlike the earlier 800s which have suffered a lot from electrical gremlins.

Other advantages of the latest 800 VFRs is they are a bit lighter but more importantly have a lower centre of gravity ( thanks to eliminating the under seat exhaust) meaning they are a bit less likely to fall over and take an unexpected nap. You only need to check out Randy's "you dropped it how many times" score card thread to realise how many 5th and 6th Gens have taken a tumble.

As for your recent improvements to make it faster I am intrigued so please do tell. Supercharger? Given some of your previous motorbike fleet, I suspect you may find the VFR a bit down on power.

While VFRs are very versatile, their strong point is really its performance as a practical mile munching machine, which can cross Europe quickly, safely and with relative ease and when fitted with OEM top box and side cases can carry enough luggage for two on a long haul tour - especially when compared with trying to balance an impressive stack of baggage on a supersport bike.

Oh and if you get a chance maybe add a photo or two of your VFR.

    Take care and have fun.

Thanks for your reply SkiMad, it's a 2016 with full factory luggage in red...no photo's with me at the moment. It's performance is similar to my old Thundercat, thinking about replacing the exhaust to reduce weight and add a few HP and also removal of the PAIR. The brakes are the best I've ever experienced, brilliant. Cheers

How fast do you want it to go? If not fast enough for your tastes then buy a rocket, the oxygen + hydrogen type, great burning fuel engines.
