The Sprint race was fun. Rea was riding the Kawi like he use to ride the Honda, pushing past the limits at times. He braking into Doohan corner was fucking terrifying. The only way he overcome the power of the Ducati. That V4 is an animal, I wonder how its longevity will be.

The thing that keeps popping up in my mind, is the master stroke of the creation and development of the Honda V4 concept three decades ago. I find it odd that they have chosen to only use it in MotoGP.

It is just nuts. I don't get it. Is it just the bean counters controlling development? Sell a trillion little bikes in Asia and to hell with our racing roots?

Looks like Yamaha are doing better this year, wish I could say the same for Honda. Although it is the first race so we'll have to see what happens at some of the other tracks...

It's hard to figure. They are competitive in moto3, with Jorge Martin winning the championship last year. Moto 3 is probably being used for development of the smaller, single cylinder engines. They are more than competitive in MotoGP, with the V4. The V4 has been the basis for most of the rest of the field. Yet they continue to try to limp by in WSBK with an ancient I4, and they have completely given up on the 600 I4. I doubt it has anything to do with money, it must be something internal, but it's hard to imagine what that might be.

Yeah, the Super Pole race turned out better than I thought it would. I didn't get a chance to really read up on how it affected things but it looks like the top 9 of this race sets the first 9 positions of Race 2. So if you're 10th or onward, you take your original grid position from qualifying. I like this a better than the inverted grid, at least your front position is earned versus handed to you. Unless luck plays a major factor into it, which can always be possible, it means the front runners will still be up front, so very likely there will be two races in one most of the time, the front and the rest of the pack, kind of status quo I guess.

On that Honda V4 topic, yeah, I've been preaching that silliness for sometime, they have the motor to do the job, so why not use it. Heck, why isn't the VFR or RVF their flagship sport bike? Bean counters? Price margins? who knows?, just which they had released a newer RC30/RC45 versus the unobtanium MotoGP replica! Yeah, they sold out before they could deliver but the riders who really want a modern V4 Honda sport bike couldn't afford the damn thing!

Forgot to mention that, it could come in handy at the end of the season, perhaps fill the gap from bad positions in Race 1 and 2.

They interviewed Camier at the track, he was stating they only got the bike 4 weeks ago and had no time to get it ready.
He ended up borrowing a swing arm from the Aussie Superbike team on the Friday to try and get some feeling from the rear end. Ended up using it all weekend.
If Honda do give it a good go it will get better.
This year the Yammies were a lot better, last year while sitting in Siberia you could see them wallowing all over the place in the way to the Hay Shed.
This year they were stable and fast. It’s just that Bautista was on another level.
Don’t forget this track suits the Ducati.

Finally watched the 2nd race, excellent racing between Rea and Haslam and Vandermark and Melandri on the Yamaha's. AB was gone again.
Honda finally got a few crumbs, 6 total points.
The riders really like the sprint race, just all out racing and not worrying about their tires.

Nothing says factory effort like giving the team the machine 4 weeks before the first race. Come on Honda, it's time to put the "racing" back in HRC. Give the boys a chance, at least. It's almost like they don't even want to shoot for a championship.

AND Camier had to borrow a swingarm from some local club.

That is a fucking travesty. There is no excuse, not at this level, considering the chassis hasn't substantially changed in a decade. I feel sorry for the guys that have to ride the thing.

And least us forget this is after they crap-canned Ten Kate Racing?!? Then, not only did they not deliver the bike until 4 weeks ago; but, it's based on their Suzuka 8 hour and endurance bike... AND, they said they had a ton of HRC shirted engineers there and were making a "serious factory effot" (guess that includes foraging for parts from other teams). If that's "serious", I'd hate the see them mail it in... Oh, wait...

Camier deserves better than this if all this is true, really makes you wonder what the fuck is going on and where all the money is going as has already been stated they fucked over Ten Kate racing and I think that is going to court and it mentioned on Eurosports coverage that Ten Kate will be returning soon with possibly Suzuki bikes, no idea who would be riding for them though

Ten Kate with Suzuki equipment is going to be an interesting situation, concerning Ten Kate's current core business is everything
Honda. I think there is more to this Honda/Ten Kate story, and I don't think it has anything to do with the race track.
