It's a fact you use a literary British icon as your forum username. Which has bitten you in the ass a few times.

Wow, happened upon this thread today... Very interesting amount of information, especially about opinions of both Ducati's and Triumphs...

I posted years ago about a similar quest I had, when trying to replace my 25th ann. RWB, AND find something my wife would enjoy riding pillion on. At that point, I already had a Triumph Daytona 675 which she wouldn't ride on (and now I have two)...

    https://vfrworld.com/threads/sport-tourer-or-cruiser.34520/

My Ducati Diavel Strada is comfortable to ride all day, for both my wife and I, has bags, and performs like a superbike... It has had no maintenance issues and costs no more than my VFR to care for or insure... It weighs 100 pounds less, makes 65 more HP, handles better and is more comfortable to ride than my VFR was.

I have the Akrapovic exhaust with map and Ohlins shock as well. And it sounds unbelievable...

I was always considering the Kawi Concours; it met every demand I had, except it was just too damn heavy. I'm glad I waited for the Diavel Strada...

Anyway, my .02 cents; as a former VFR owner and actual Ducati and Triumph owner...

I could not remember the last year they made of the Strada model, looks like 2014. Its incredible that you can find them with really low miles. Saw one for $9k with 4k miles on it. That was a 20k plus bike at the time. It has a lot of stock goodies on it like selectable maps, heated grips, power taps, and a much better suspension in its stock form. Put a pipe , PC and a tune and they would really hustle down the road with a sweet sound. Friend in Arizona has one and takes long haul ass trips on it. The only gripe he has was that the fuel economy was not great and a smallish fuel tank. If he was not whacking the throttle all the time I'm sure he could get over 40mpg. lol I think he changed the wind screen too.

I believe the American icon, Maxwell Smart, would be much more appropriate. :Heh:

So back to the topic at hand....
Honda better build a V4 to compete with Ducati & Aprilia. They swore up & down in 83 and 84 that the V4 was superior to the inline 4 due to the narrower crankshaft. So what ya waiting for...?

Ducati to win a WSBK championship, then waltz in and beat them down...just like they did before with the RC-51, or, hell to freeze over. Pick a winner.

It is unfortunate that some members of any forum seem just to seek to antagonise and be as unnecessarily rude as possible. As far as I'm concerned, I had been offering very reasonable points of view about the topics under discussion and some additional but concise example of a point being made does not constitute "taking one line of a post and running in another direction with it". Nor need it be dismissed as "bullshit".

Unfortunately it seems to be impossible to have any reasonable debate about anything on forums like this, without someone jumping in with this sort of inflammatory behaviour. It is simply not necessary and makes we wonder why I bother to even follow them.

I could take your exact same words in your reply to my post back up this thread and apply them to your post as well as the exact same words in your post above and apply them to what I think about your posts. Just accept that there are other points of view and leave it at that. This forum does have many examples of just not moving on and respecting other's points of view which does spark frustration, anger, "one-upmanship", and fading participation in this forum as an observation compared to days past on this forum. There is no lack of authoritarians here....many more than any other forum I belong to. It is what it is. I'm moving on to a great productive weekend.
