    Eatons? -

I recall 'Allstate' as well as 'Sears' motorcycle's. The Allstates were re-badged 'Puch' (the 'twingle' comes to mind) from Austria and the 'Sears' were Gilera's.

    From wikipedia...

Looks like they're not gone for good, yet...

"Sears, Roebuck and Company, colloquially known as Sears, is an American chain of department stores founded by Richard Warren Sears and Alvah Curtis Roebuck in 1893, reincorporated (a formality for a history-making consumer sector initial public offering) by Richard Sears and new partner Julius Rosenwald in 1906. Formerly based at the Sears Tower in Chicago and currently headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the operation began as a mail ordering catalog company and began opening retail locations in 1925. The first location was in Evansville, Indiana. In 2005, the company was bought by the management of the American big box chain Kmart, which formed Sears Holdings upon completion of the merger.

Sears had the largest domestic revenue of any retailer in the United States until October 1989, when Walmart surpassed it. In 2018, Sears was the 31st-largest retailer in the United States. After several years of declining sales, its parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 15, 2018. Sears announced on January 16, 2019 it had won its bankruptcy auction and would shrink and remain open with about 400 stores."

only ever went to Sears when on holidays in Florida at my sisters and used to love looking through the Sears catalogue, they had stuff which was unavailable in the UK, I was so jealous of the 'tool chests' etc as they were so cheap compared to UK prices

    Sounds oddly familiar

NEWS - HARLEY DAVIDSON SPEAKS TO DECLINING BIKE SALES
The reasons for the slump in sales at HD are not President Trump's fault.

Apparently the Baby-Boomers all have motorcycles. Generation X is only buying a few, and the next generation isn't buying any at all.

A recent study was done to find out why Millennials don't ride motorcycles:

    1. Pants won't pull up far enough for them to straddle the seat.

    2. Can't get their phone to their ear with a helmet on.

    3. Can't use 2 hands to eat while driving.

    4. They don't get a trophy and a recognition plaque just for buying one.

    5. Don't have enough muscle to hold the bike up when stopped.

    6. Might have a bug hit them in the face and then they would need emergency care.

    7. Motorcycles don't have air conditioning.

    8. They can't afford one because they spent 12 years in college trying to get a degree in Humanities, Social Studies or Gender Studies for which no jobs are available.

    9. They are allergic to fresh air.

    10. Their pajamas get caught on the exhaust pipes.

    11. They might get their hands dirty checking the oil.

    12. The handle bars have buttons and levers and cannot be controlled by touch-screen.

    13. You have to shift manually and use something called a clutch.

    14. It's too hard to take selfies while riding.

    15. They don't come with training wheels like their bicycles did.

    16. Motorcycles don't have power steering or power brakes.

    17. Their nose ring interferes with the face shield.

    18. They would have to use leg muscle to back up.

    19. When they stop, a light breeze might blow exhaust in their face.

    20. It could rain on them and expose them to non-soft water.

    21. It might scare their therapy dog, and then the dog would need therapy.

    22. Can't get the motorcycle down the basement stairs of their parent's home.

Two more typical and oh so common Hog experiences from yesterday. It was the first absolutely perfect beautiful weather day of the year so seemingly everybody was out including me on a VFR riding the twisties. I ride up on a gaggle of about 10 Hogs doing 45 to 50mph. Not sorry, but I don't go that slow for long. Did what I usually do and passed the "tail dragger" and leave him plenty of room. He speeds up and gets close to me (not a surprising act of aggression from a Hog), I just slow down the throttle and he gets the message and backs off (they HATE a rice burner getting in their packs). I pick off another couple of them safely and the "ride captain" (LOL!, love that term) waves me by. I pause, check out the incoming direction then pass hard and quick to stay out of the other lane (my MO). I never pass another bike or vehicle when waved by until I check for myself. Their "bike handling/riding language" indicated they didn't like Jap bike "disruption". Tough shit, nothing uncommon for the tough guy wanna be's, LOL!

Continue riding along at my pace and come up behind a lone Hog with ape hangers (why do people do that?) with an female (I guess) riding passenger. He speeds up significantly in some very twisty stuff. I could have passed easily but I let him enjoy the next 10 miles of riding over his head since the message seemed to be "not going to let you pass". We rode into a small town and I just let him go his merry way the whole time.

Is it any wonder there are Harley haters out there? There are good people that own Harleys but enough buttholes ruin all of them. They say the same thing about Jap bike riders. They're wrong though, LOL>...

Actually the asshat didn't have any close calls. At that speed in those curves, he was riding over his head but had good reserve of luck built up. Had it continued, he would have gone down. I didn't push any harder as he had a female on the back don't know if she was stupid too. Likely so to ride with an asshat. Still don't want to be part of anyone getting hurt and having to see or be around the carnage. Harleys don't go, stop, or turn. Other than that, they still suck, LOL!

As I read this entertaining thread, does anybody really care if HD goes down? I sure would make my rides less obstructed by litter.....
