    Hi all,
I'm now looking for a new end can as a replacement for my recently acquired 2001 bike as the original has failed at the link section. I would prefer OEM (but not at OEM prices obviously!) Does anyone have experience of the Delkevic or Blueflame replacements? They seem considerably cheaper. Also, Will a replacement require further modifications to fuelling? Apologies for the novice questions. Thanks in advance

Going to an aftermarket can is very popular, so if you want OEM, I bet someone in the UK would have one for cheap to give you.
(I actually have one in my garage closet I haven't looked at in a lot of years.)

Btw - post up a photo of your bike

    Thanks mello,
I know the aftermarket stuff is popular. There are a few OEM on that auction site but they appear to have the same corrosion developing where mine has failed. Was considering aftermarket but wasn't interested in too loud or flash but I guess there would be a decent weight saving over stock? Delkevic start at £130 hence the consideration.

There is considerable weight savings with aftermarket cans, but will be louder.

I have a 350mm. GP style from Black Widow (also UK based). It is one of their louder models, but with the DB-killer in, it's really not that loud (but sounds great).
If you were to go for one of their full size models and leave the DB-killer in, it would barely be any louder than stock. And being stainless steel, it will last.
You could ad some packing around the DB-killer to reduce sound output even further. And it is significantly lighter as well.

They are also road legal in the UK if that matters to you. And you won't have to do any modifications. Just bolt it on and ride.

    Hi Norse
I would prefer road legal for issues over here in UK. Appreciate they sound well with louder cans but not for my use. They do seem good value the black widow type. Found a good deal on an quill evo 2 stainless for £125 which didn't seem to bad either. Thanks for the reply.

I had a Delkevic tri-oval on my VFR800, and was very happy with it. Good finish, decent sound and came with a dB killer (which I never used).[IMG]

They are a very good deal.
I was very surprised by the build quality. Not just some cheap sheet metal that should have been used for a tin of beans, but a solid few mm. thick stainless steel. Material thickness has a huge impact of a quality of the sound. Thin steel tends to sound very tinny and thicker stuff tends to help produce a fuller sound. And that is what you need if you want it to sound good and not just be loud.
Tolerances are also very nice. The mid-pipe is snug enough on the cat, that the clamp is mostly just decorative.

Another thing to consider is that it looks like the 8th gen slip ons fit the 5th gens. I got a hold of a used akrapovic off an 8th gen and it fits perfectly on my 5th. Including the passenger peg clamp and the centre stand stop. If you havent made a decision already that should open up your options.

That's interesting. Thanks for the information. I managed to get a new collar welded on where the other had failed but it's certainly worth keeping an eye out for.

I am running a Jardine RT-One slip on, on my 2001, it sounds amazing and uses the stock attachment point...
