Will these fit on the base of the old style condom mirrors? and does anyone know if the mirrors from a 00-01 model will fit on a 98-99 model?

Yes, they’ll fit on the base of the early style, but on my early mirrors the bits under the rubber sleeve are rough gold-colored metal, not smooth black. So you’ll probably want to paint the bases black to match. The 00-01 mirrors do bolt on, but you’d be paying a lot just for the set of base mounts.

No idea what the condom mirrors were like, but...

The Kawasaki mirrors have two bolts that go through the fairing and are secured on the inside with nuts. That part is useless on the VFR Fi-Y because the Honda mirror has more widely spaced mounting points and uses two cap screws into captive nuts in the fairing. On the Fi-Y, you take out the single cap screw that is the pivot bolt for the mirror and just remove the arm and the top and bottom washers that come with it. Remove the same bolt on the Kawasaki mirror and put the stem into the existing Honda fairing mount.

EDIT: For the avoidance of doubt, the top photo shows Mrs Wiggo's lairy Candy Lime Green Kawasaki ER6-f (Ninja 650). The bottom photo is an elegant, refined Honda Pearl Conifer Green VFR...

Those handweels? As short as possible. I bought 50mm for some reason, but I cut them down to about 15 in the end because I got bored of winding them in and out...
