Just ordered new sprockets and chain (520 conversion) and brake pads - 20K miles came fast on this bike. :)

about the right mileage for chain replacement, but the 520 will not last as long as the oem 530.

Depends a lot on the quality of the chain and the sprockets, and the level of preventive care. There is really no need for 530 chains on a bike that only makes 100 hp and it's more wear and tear on other things. I put them on everything and have never had an issue that they wear out any quicker. Modern chains have come a long way.

Its a moot point, the vendor said 6-8 weeks back order on the 520 conversion kit. I had paired the steel sprockets with an RK chain. :(

    6 to 8 weeks?
Are they making the steel to make the sprockets?
I'm in Oz and got my 520 kit from Sprocket Centre in the US.
    Arrived in 2 weeks.

I had a bigger issue, Sprocket Center didn't sell anything for the RVF400 specifically, so I bought the chain, DID ERV3 gold, from them, and then crossed referenced part numbers from JT sprockets and got a JT ultralight steel rear sprocket off of Amazon and used the part numbers to get an Ognibene "Silent" countershaft sprocket from Sprocket Center. You should be able to piece a kit together with a little bit of research.

Damn... respect. From watching your RVF400 thread I recognize and admire your parts-gathering skilz.
