Not funny, serious problem when the NBA suspended the rest of the season, Trump has fucked this up royally.

“It was two years ago when Trump ordered the shutdown of the White House National Security Council's entire global health security unit. NBC News had a good report on this recently, noting that the president's decision "to downsize the White House national security staff -- and eliminate jobs addressing global pandemics -- is likely to hamper the U.S. government's response to the coronavirus."

Truly not funny, they've cancelled and moved several MotoGP races as well as WSBK races due to the Coronavirus.

Doctors have projected between 50 to 70 million people will get the virus in the US. We need testing kits ASAP, need to speed up process of getting approved for a test and speed up getting results. This is not a political problem and not economic problem, it is a health problem with drastic economic consequences.
Already cost me over $8000 in value in my IRA.

Investments.... time to buy, always buy on bad news.
Trump did maybe screw it up, but the real reason test kits aren't available is because the CDC did not listen to the "not made in America" test developed elsewhere, developed their own, it failed, needed tweaking.... and nobody kicked off the test kits...... but Trump says anybody can get tested, yeppir.
But the good news is for the majority, it will be like a bad cold or mild flu to varying degrees... I hope it's not as bad as all the doom and gloom. Stay calm and carry on.

As important as it is for the availability for test kits, in our society of paranoia and people running around and getting all stressed out because they cannot get a test kit to determine if they have this specific form of viral infection, People should just stay at home and away from other people when they get flue like symptoms and in general, take preventative measures to avoid acquiring that virus. As simple as washing your hands often during the course of the day, and avoid touching your face. That last item is a hard one I know, because most of the face touching is habitual and no one really knows they are doing it.

Relatively healthy people will survive this, if they manage to contract it, relatively easily. Thing is, they may also bring that back to their family who may not all be that healthy. The very young and old of course are a concern. But also, there are millions of people out there with compromised immune systems of one sort or another, who are at risk.

BTW. Hand sanitizers and most sanitizing sprays serve no purpose in this issue. They are anti bacterial and this is a viral concern. Sure, you can wipe down your shopping cart handles, but think of the key pad of the bank card machine you candle. All the items in the store you are handling and how many people before you have handled these things. The best thing to do is wash your own hands after shopping and until you are able to do this, keep your hands away from your face.

A little off topic but WTF. this is my thread anyway.

That is just so gross. I am going to have nightmares about that one for a while. Daymares too. I was going to go do some shopping today. Think I will pass.

Please clear up what exactly a person is suppo
And what, exactly, can anyone do about this virus? I'll tell you: Nothing, it's like most any viruses, including the
flu virus: no cure, no treatment, just treat the symptoms. Treat this like any other viral respiratory infection,
stay away from crowds and self medicate.

If you're young and healthy, you'll most likely do just fine, old and infirm or with respiratory problems you could
be in for trouble. Very similar risks to any flu. This one hits old people harder, but what doesn't?

Many experts seem to agree that, at some point, you will contract the virus. Maybe not soon, but
at some point in the future. So what exactly is the point of all these quarantines? Catch it now and
    get it over with.

Imagine what would happen if everyone would thought like that and millions of people would meet in hospitals tomorrow

But those are the facts, check and see. Almost everyone will be exposed to this virus at some point. And there's no
reason for millions of people to be in the hospitals, because most people won't be sick, and most of the ones who
are sick, won't be that sick. The at-risk people are the old, the immune deficient, and people with respiratory issues.

The quarantines are to slow the spread of the virus, not stop it. The idea is to spread the virus infection over months
so the medical institutions don't get overwhelmed treating the people who really need it. The virus infections spreads
over the course of months instead of weeks, easing the stress on medical institutions.

I had someone actually explain what the quarantines were supposed to do specifically. Pretty much makes sense.
