Hello everyone, I'm Dan from Rochester. New to the bike world and new to the Vfr.

Picked up a 2007 vfr800a anniversary edition this morning. Have yet to ride it, few things I want to go through and check first.
-im told it has a but too much oversteer at low speed and a front end vibration that goes away at speed. Gonna check tire pressure and see from there. Tires are 50%-60%.
-chain has some play so I'll adjust per owners manual.
-oils a touch low, gonna just do a full oil change
-clutch seems too have too much free play but idk if that's just typical. Doesn't slip tho.

Anyway it's an 07, anniversary edition, clean clean clean! One small scuff on the upper right fairing that was touched up (poorly but nothing you notice) full luggage set but I'm not a fan of the high mounted center one. And she sounds great!

I've been stalking for a while and I figured it was time to sign up and thank you all for the resources here. And fir the record, it didn't occur to me that my screen name was "BJr" so before anyone gets excited... not intentional.

Welcome Dan! Post up a photo or two when you get a chance.

How many miles are on your new ride? Have you been able to determine how old the tires are?

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

Unfortunately this is the only pic I grabbed today when I pulled it off the trailer at my freinds place. Saddlebags have some scrapes and will be getting new paint soon. I think 24k and change.

Not low miles by any means but I'm confident in the motor lasting many more!

Tires idk, pervious owner did alot of riding up and down the coast. I dont imagine more than a couple years old.

In regards to the front end vibration, check the front tire for cupping. Also, put it up the the centerstand and ever so slowly turn the handlebars side to side and feel for any notching or flat spots in the head bearing. Cupping on the tire is of course common and easy to see, but the head bearings are another thing to check.

Always loved the look of the anniversary editions. Congrats!

I have a right angle valve in my front wheel which leaks slowly, handling goes to hell when tire pressure drops. Waiting to get new tire and will replace valve then with standard rubber valve that seals properly.
It’s been awhile, but I had a 2003 VFR and remember my front tire cupped. My current 2014 just wears evenly from aggressive riding the twisties.

So mines got these TPS sensor valve stem caps. Anyone know anything about them? Not reading on the monitor. Not sure if they open up and I can change batteries on them or if I just buy new ones.

You have the Doran... had one years ago, batteries not replaceable..... expensive, for the money, get a newer TPMS system for way less. Rupse, Fobo, and some of the Chinese offerings are quite good now.
