They are good project candidates. Lots of options. Once the chassis is updated, they are a great package. The frame responds very favorably and is not overwhelmed.

    And another lesson...

Switching to the Euro VFR Lower Triple, the offset is slightly different between the VFR and every other 86 to 97 Honda sport bike. So, I "got" to order a upper Euro triple. It came in 6 days from the U.K.! Already modified (removed the ignition guard), sanded and painted. Clear tomorrow. 20200929_175021.jpg

Shot some clear when I got home from a nice "Fall" ride. We are having a great week here in Seattle. Some smoke came in today again, but the air is decent. Just made the sunset pretty.

It is not a sexy Triple Clamp, but it's the one I have to use. I'll see about maybe adding a Honda emblem or something.

I shaped the linkage piece for a little more exhaust clearance, it was really close before.

And the matching upper triple clamp to go with the '88 VFR lower.

It was pretty nice assembling a bike with most everything ready to bolt on.

Well... adjustable stops is gonna be needed to put the bars where I want them. Here's my other lower clamp after a cup of coffee and greyhound.

This will be overkill. I will remove and grind down as needed for each side. Or I have some bolts with thinner heads.

Decided to make some more changes while I was there. Changed the RT Emulator preload spring to Blue, 4.5 turns and a 2 bleed hole plate. 130mm fork oil level, 15mm preload with forks caps all the way out.. They feel really good now on the important, in shop-front brake-bounce test.

Even with the linkage shaved down is that enough space for suspension travel without hitting?

When the suspension compresses it moves away from the exhaust, not closer. Plenty of room now.

Test ride, no issues... well not on the actual ride. I fucking love this bike.

    20201014_165936.jpg

The fuel tank that was completely drained didn't want to deliver fuel at first. These tanks (like the VF1000R) don't like to just "flow" fuel. They need to be coaxed at first. Finally the pump pulled fuel from the tank and primed the system and she started again after depleting the fuel in the bowls.

Engine runs perfect. No smoke or issues. Installed new EBC springs on the 13K mile clutch.

I can feel the difference of triple clamps. It is a little more eager to fall in with the stock offset vs CBR-F2 hardware. Not good or bad, just different. Well, it is good I suppose. Really good.

Are you going to start carrying a wire to prime it ..... lol

My Wife's bike is an absolute pig to start if it dies from lack of fuel... Those older non injection style pumps really hate having to suck up fuel...
