No, and I never will, I thoroughly enjoy the machine the way it is. I tried the hacks on my 6 th gen, didn’t make an significant difference. I don’t pretend to know more than the Honda engineers, they did a great job on the 8th gen, build quality ia much more refined than my 6th gen.

Just be aware of what seems logical, doesn’t always work. Years ago I hacked the hell out of my 83 air box thinking it would improve performance, not true, just made it noisier. Air box was a tuned system that gave optimum performance for the street.

I was wondering about that or if anybody wanted to do it. I could make plates for that....

I believe there are a handful of us 8th gen owners who have done it (including me). I wouldn't be surprised if Mello's plates for the earlier gens also fit the 8th...

Sound wise, I noticed a louder growl from underneath the gas tank...

This is what I posted back in 2017 shortly after modding:
"I took it out for a very brief run yesterday - brief as in 10-15 miles and No high speed/WOT runs. The bike actually felt pretty good. Midrange throttle response seems a little bit livelier - to get the bike to move down the road seems to take a little less twist of the wrist (guessing a range from 3000-6500 rpm) and it seems like it doesn't bog as easy (e.g. if I'm slightly cracking the throttle open while moving slowly in a higher gear) as it used to. But, it could be all in my head too. Either way, so far, it was worth my time and I'm guessing future oil changes should be a little easier as well with the EVAP canister removed."

Replying to OP How did you get on with the electrical stuff? As you have never come back on any of the threads you have posted over various forums.

It would be nice to know.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the flapper etc were deleted from later model VFR as in 2016 on. Someone went to try on his and found the airbox was different.

I blocked the vacuum hose running to the flapper and it eliminated the engine surging I felt at 20-30 mph when I was trying to hold a steady speed in town. I know it makes a difference because I had to hook it back up this year when I was trying to diagnose an electrical problem and the surging came right back. I have not noticed any other benefit.
I have not done the snorkel or the pair delete, I have no interest in them.

I just done the snorkle and flapper mod on my 5th gen and I really like it, better sound and better midrange, bike is just pulling better and sounds far better too, I'd imagine 8th gen would be similar, pair mod I didn't bother with as there is no cat or 02 sensors on my 98, the way it should be.
