Hi all, it is my second post, because I am new(even to motorcycles)

Story: 5 months ago I was sitting and chilling at home and my friend called me; “ Dude I bouhgt a new motorbike yesterday and it stopped suddenly around your house. Can ı park to your place? And I will fix it at weekend in your place” he came and it was red 99 black VFR that looks beautiful.

he came day after to fix it, problem was R/R.

Btw, I’ve never drive any motorbike before and I didn’t know anything about them. But something happned and I decided to start biking in one day! İt was instant decision. And ı talked with my friend about this, at begining he didnt believe me, because I decided in one day but I was serious.

he saw that I was serious and looking for motorbikes and try to learn them like types etc.(I was looking for cbr 600).

he got I am serious and he said, “during my VFR searching, I found another good one, it is black and mechanicaly very good. You can buy it and keep it in your garage until getting driving licence. It made sense to me and ı bought this black VFR, yea my first bike is VFR 800 :) I decided in one day and bought it three days later...

    bike stays in garage for 5 months and this week I will get my licence, btw tests for licence A in Netherlands are super hard. Also I started to maintain it this week;
New engine oil and oil filter
    New spark plugs
    New brake pads
    I changed R/R already
Clutch fluid and I will replace brakefluid( it is complex!)
And i dropped the bike and screwed the fairing, so I ordered new fairing(chinese).

I am planing road trip(spiritual, alone) now for april. Question is my road trip plan is around 7.5k km(5k miles) in two weeks. Milage of my VFR is 43k km(around 29k miles). I am not sure 21 years old bike can make 7-8k km? What do you think?

    ps: sorry for my english...

Sounds ready to go with your recent maintenance. I would inspect and check tires to ensure they are not too old. Look for the mfg date codes.

You are right! Tire tread is ok but didn’t check the age.

    Wow, that's nice!
Looks like you are doing the right maintenance....
But also I suggest you contact one of your fellow countrymen..."Dutchy" on the
"Other" VFR board.... VFRD and have him take a look. I'm sure he would be happy to help....

Didn't want you to find out the hard way like I did. Headed out on my first long 3,500 mile trip, 400 miles into ride and the rear tire self destructed. Steel cords chewed up the rear end of my bike. 80% tread remaining, no cracks or dry checking but tire was 6 years old. Hot 35°C day, bike loaded heavy and prolonged high speed riding.[IMG]

I am concerned you as a new rider with little experience is going to try a long trip right away. Hope you can get in some shorter rides before you embark on that journey. Anyway, congrats and best wishes.

I plan short trips before that, I hope they will open borders before March. Germany is open but need corona test to pass...
Netherlands is a small country but still I can make 5 hours(total) ridings. Just I need good weather, but chance is low for coming 3 months.

it's important to state your bike's mileage/kilometrage to know what maintenance it might need.

maybe wrong, but i'd suspect that failure was due more to underinflation than to age.

Nope, kept at 40-42 psi always. Tire was still fully inflated after it delaminated. I checked it the following day before spooning on a new tire and was at 42psi.

Cmon dude, get off your all Chinese stuff is bad.... some are, some not. It really depends on the American company specing the parts.
I worked with them for 4 years, some of the engineers are brilliant, some are stupid...

Nope again, not a chance. I have 3 unique and different quality guages and correlate them to each other often. I can get within 5 psi by touch anyway.

I already stated the contributing causes. 95°F+ day, heavy load packed on rear and 400 miles of sustained 85-90mph interstate.
