I love my "9" the torque is absolutely intoxicating, and with the freedom pipes and power commander, its even better. If you decide to get one eventually, be sure to test ride it, the older ones were known for eating 2nd gear & shift forks. ALL of them eat front engine mounts, but theyre easy to replace. I just upgraded mine (10,000km) to harder ones.

They are significantly larger than a VROD, which surprised me. When I first sat on mine at the dealership I was a little intimidated by its size. I walked away for 1/2 hr to think about it and decided "F*%k it....Just do it". Im glad I did.

M109R's are also known as the Suzuki "Haya-Cruiser".

If you dont like attention, these are not the bike for you. My M109R will rattle windows, make dogs hide and babies cry, she is that loud. I could do with it a bit quieter to be honest.

BTW Matt, that VROD is the cat's ass. (or the dog's bollocks for our UK friends). That VROD, in that Colour is THE VROD to own. Your Dad has good taste !!

Alright, I think I'll be content to observe and ogle the the "9" from the sidelines for a while. That description has me cracking up though! I actually love riding with one of my buddies that has a loud as hell Vance and Hines on his big ole Harley, but I definitely blush when he starts it up at my house and the neighbors lights all turn on at the same time. On that CVO VROD, it is almost quiet. I actually love it for that reason. It sounds super precise and almost whistles instead of bangs. I'm pretty certain it was the engine--and not the looks--that made so many in the Harley crowd reject that bike.

Interesting you mention it's that much bigger than the VROD. Looking at the pictures now, I can see how much wider it likely is. I'm going to keep my eyes open and hopefully see one in person this year. The VROD felt like as large of a bike as I'd be comfortable piloting. I've sat on and stood up a few of those big Harley baggers, and my confidence just melts. I'm sure it can be learned, but man it's a strange feeling coming from much smaller bikes.

Thanks for the insight. What a cool looking machine!

Yea, its all in what you get used to. If I'd gone straight to a VROD instead, the VROD would have felt big too. But because the 9 is so wide and long everything feels small in comparison. I sat on an Indian Springfield bagger last year and it didnt feel big in comparison. Even my VFR800 felt like a big boys bike wen I moved from the CBR500R. I found the size fairly easy to adapt to, it was the foot position that took the longest to adapt. The instinct to put my feet under/inline with my hips to find the pegs, instead of forward, had to be overcome.

I know this isn't quite in the same league, but since we're Honda V4 geeks, what about the '94-'03 Magna.... I heard they were sleepers....

Was always intrigued by the Trials bikes, the Honda Reflex back in the '80s. Watching YouTube vids, can't even comprehend what they do with them. Cool bike, but way beyond my AARP qualified self!

1st gen vrods, "interesting" but way too late to the liquid cooled game IMO. 2nd gen looked better, handled worse in curves and just not my cup of tea. Like my HDs air cooled!. M109s, uniquely styled.

Had a '94 Magna, nice evolution of the Magna line. But not as unique as the '87/88 versions and not the outright snot of the V65. Still can't mistake the V4 growl regardless of year.
