    Hi Guys,

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if the OEM Akrapovic Honda Slip On Part #08F88-MJM-917 2015-2020 is compatible with the 2014 VFR800 CDN model? I believe this slip on is Euro 4 and I suspect my OEM muffler is equivalent or similar to Euro 3 but not sure. The interesting thing is I believe the VFR oversees anyway in 14-15 was Euro 3 and then 16+ was Euro 4 with the new muffler while this replacement part seems to span both standards (15-20)? I just want the bike to run smooth with the minimal gains in performance. Not interested in remapping. Thanks.

I see no reason why a European spec Akropovic system would not fit straight onto a Canadian or North American market model. Just make sure you obtain the road legal version as there are also track use only versions which do not carry the Euro type approval mark which are not homologated for road use.

My 2014 Akropovic came with two separate type approval statements showing it would meet both Euro 3 and Euro 4 ratings depending on if you decide to leave out the Euro 4 decibel killer. Even in Euro 4 mode it is still a loud exhaust. Meanwhile deep in the installation manual was this seemingly pertinent "warning"...

The second paragraph seems to confirm that as the Akropovic silencer simply substitutes for the original silencer component and is located downstream of the catalyst which remains in place and fully working, then it is considered as a replacement part which does not need an exemption order ... to be sold in California. What is not totally clear is whether something which can be legally sold in California can automatically be used on roads in California. I leave that to the legal eagles...
