    Title says 86 / 87, post says 86.

Which part are you looking for? The knuckle with 3 pivots or the U-shaped piece?

In my opinion, neither one looks a lot like a "dog bone"

One of them is the same (dimensionally) 86 to 87, the other one isn't.

    Good luck on your search.

The 86/87 piece is not separate like that. But I get your reference now.

OK in that case the information saying these work in another thread is patently false ....thanks

Why do you say that? I'm staring at a 1990 on my lift right now.

    Here's a 1987 piece

    And here's a 93

And yes.... 86 and 87 are dimensionally the same, just built differently. (That piece... not the knuckle)

If you know the hole to hole distance, you can make your own dogbone links.....

The Gen 3 doesn't use separate pieces. You would then need to create a center collar with needle bearings. Which is doable of course.

A piece that fits and may be his solution has already been built by Honda as pictured above (and reported in other threads), he is just confused.

    Hey... couple things:

Make sure you are responding OUTSIDE of the quote. Way less confusing for everybody.

And not my listing... just an example.

Good luck! The pieces are out there and either will work.

And... are you sure the difference between the 2 is 17mm? Those holes are going to be pretty close to each other... nearly "touching".

    Concentrate on finding a replacement.

no im not sure it is 17mm ...i have tried to contact the chap that did the XZ14 video on YT to see if he could confirm what the distance should be but havent had any luck as yet ...as it the video is a few years old he probably doesn't monitor comments ....he may be a member on this forum. he said he originally made his holes at 20mm to get a higher ride height, so I was "estimating" maybe about 17mm would take it to stock ....but the simplest solution is to get 2 holes drilled at lets say 20mm - ie far enough away from the original holes as you pointed out, to ensure structural integrity ...and adjust front fork height from there if required....but I have a centre stand, so can easily work out where the new holes should be.

i went ahead and worked out how far the drill the new holes, by trial and error using a temproary alloy plate, and fixing it in place on one side to see where the rear wheel sat. It worked out that the new 10mm holes (edge of hole ) are 6mm apart ie the std hole and new hole are 6mm apart. The centres are 6+5+5 - 16mm to give the ride height suitable for the ZX14 shock....that with the front forks a little through the top triple clamp ..Bike rides fine, and rear wheel is free off the ground for chain lubing or removal. Now to sort the crappy front forks as the rear is much improved
