Welp....just got a PM from the seller - he sold the bike.

    I'm OK with it.

    I already have 2 RC15's.

What would I do with 3?

    :homer:

Neither of those are actually the rear fender. The bike in the ad appears to have a Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator or is a custom job. You usually have to sacrifice (hack) the original to mount one.

I actually think it has the Competition Werkes sticker on it. And the fender has been hacked, the taillight surround is part of the original fender.

Thanks for the info on the rear fender. Helps for those like me who don't know this stuff!

To answer your question, there was no discussion about holding the bike for me or that anyone else was interested or that I'd have first right of refusal. Just that we'd meet Monday and I would call Sunday afternoon to confirm.

I really wasn't dead set on buying the bike - if I was I would have tried to see it immediately, as I have on previous occasions.

So I'm OK with it being sold.

I guess the only disappointment was not hearing the story of the bike's history and how the fuel tank got lost when it was sent out for a pin hole repair.

It also would have been nice to hear the twin Kerkers. :)

The seller just messaged me and said the new owner put a battery in it, fuel line, and it started right up and ran like a kitten. Said he's happier than a pig in cornbread....

    Good Sunday morning!

    Well....the eagle has landed. :)

All fairings recently repainted (white) by the seller. Even came with the took kit!

Installed new battery. Working now to get her running.

Even with a fuel bottle though......it's not starting. Fuel relay/pump situation, I think. Same drill as the Euro. Gonna bypass the relay and see what happens. ...stay tuned.....

Bypassed fuel pump relay and can hear the FP working.

Fuel coming out at carbs so floats stuck I guess.

OK she's running - and no more fuel leaking, so rubber parts must have swelled back into shape.

But I ran out of fuel in my bottle and now we have light rain so will go back out later when things clear up and shoot a video with the oh-so-sweet sound of those Kerkers!

It ran long enough for me to hear them....glorious!

Also you were right about the Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator.......

I also noticed the electrical plug location for the fuel tank sender...something I couldn't locate on the Euro bike. Now I can go back and maybe find it this time (?)

    ==========

Tried to start/run her again and back to the initial status...fuel leaking and no start. Left the trickle charger on her and will try again in a little bit.....

That shock is intriguing. That may be a super early Fox, I have not seen that res style before, but the stamping on the body looks very Fox. How about a shot of the bottom mount.

"Also you were right about the Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator......."

Goddam I have a good eye! I never knew they replaced the whole fender. That's the first one of those I've seen! Cool.

Well it helps to have a good photographer! ;)

Will work on a shot of the bottom. Still wet out......

OK, I managed to get her to run but still have the leaking fuel issue.

I saw some fuel coming out of the air vent tube at the top even so the carbs are obviously getting flooded.

Could this just be a stuck float valve?

Before I shot this video the idle was even higher....around 4K and I managed to get it down to 2K using the idle adjust knob. In the video below.....I try to adjust it downward some more and it wasn't having any of it....

I think at this point I will let her sit overnight and try again tomorrow.

The twin Kerkers sound GREAT! :)

You can let er sit and try again tomorrow for the next month... but you know what the answer is.

And... did you already swap out the clutch master cylinder? Not the stock unit.

    We'll see.

Saw that too on the clutch. I did add some fluid and it has much better resistance now. Not gonna test it until I get the engine running right.

Happy with the purchase and if I have to do the carbs, so be it.

I have PTSD from doing the Euro.

    It's not the removal.

    It's not the cleaning.

    It's the freaking re-install that's a big PITA!

You're probably right - but right now I'm in denial......
